Got a friend who recently acquired a .44 Mag Desert Eagle.
Spare me the criticism...believe me, I told him about 1,000 times not to buy the damn thing. Anywho, he's having problems with it jamming ("I told you so") and was told by someone else he was using the wrong ammo.
Simple question-- what kind of ammo will feed and fire reliably in a Desert Eagle (please specify grain weight too).
thanks guys.

Is he shooting lead?

Can't cycle all-lead ammunition, as it clogs the gas port. It's not a bad gun at all, people just constantly buy the wrong ammunition.
Either full jacketed ammo, or soft points/anything with lead only exposed at the tip.

Ok, time to get serious I suppose...
What exactly is the problem? What kind of jam is it?
Is it failing to extract?
Is it extracting improperly?
Is it stovepiping?
Is it double feeding?
What exactly is the problem?
Is your friend cleaning the gun properly?
Was the gun used when he bought it? If so, have there been 5000 rounds put through it? If it was bought new, has he fired 5000 rounds through it?
Does he need knew springs?
Send him here if has questions about proper care: http://www.zvis.com/dep/depcln.shtml
The Desert Eagle, after all, is a fairly high maintenance gun.
It may not be an ammo issue at all.
