I remember checking that website out a few months ago. It's pretty good! I think it offers explanations on the changes made to the MRE heaters since 1991.

Try eating them three times a day for over a year, then you'll change your mind.

Three times a day for 6 days was enough for me.
Try eating them three times a day for over a year, then you'll change your mind.
Darn right about that! I remember some of my soldiers had to set up a display for Armed Forces Day, showing off some of our vehicles and such. I was at the other end with my WW2 Jeep and airborne stuff. I walked over and saw a civilian tasting some MRE stuff, and she said, “That’s not bad. I don’t understand why you people make such a big deal about how bad these things are.” I wanted to kick her in the butt. The E-5 with them said it best, “Ma’am, if you eat these things that are designed to be heated but can’t because you don’t have the time, and eat them every day for weeks at a time, you’d rather just go hungry, trust me.” About two dozen people around her all agreed.

In my experience, they really aren't that bad. It's just that you get so bored of the same damn thing. At first they all taste new and special, then you realize they all kind of have the same generic taste.
The other problem was I found you always try to grab your favorites, then you realise you have had sphagetti with meat sauce 5 times in the last 3 days, all you really want is a damn pound cake, but you've got a rucksack full of chocolate milkshake mixes instead.

And those milkshakes blow hard. Only thing that i look forward to everytime with MRE's are the pound cakes...but a good precent i get crackers with cheese...fu<king nasty.

Been a while since I've eaten one. Kind of miss it :D And eating it for longer periods than 4 days makes you hate them, true!

Chilimac is my favorite. Still makes you the easiest person to track, from Tactical Flatulation Emissions (TFE). ;)
