How about Frank Bruno. Only kidding, I would go for my fellow Welshman (The Mighty Atom) Jimmy Wilde, most American boxing experts would certainly rank him in their top 5 if not higher.

Im gonna be patriotic and say George Chuvalo. One of the few who actually gave Mohamad Ali a run for his money.
Modern times though I'd have to say Lennox Lewis. Even though he went across the pond to fight after winning gold for canada, he has got to be the greatest boxer since Ali.

Lennox was certainly in my opinion a credit to the sport, but never really got the kudos from the American boxing press and fans, cerainly a class act and seems to be a genuinely nice guy who has made a bloody fortune out of the game.
