Or for short the FAMAS Rifle.

Any comments by users of this rifle about it good/bad?...things like no heat shields for one.

Anyhoo I've never come across one and have always wondered how she handles.

Thanks

Yes or Roland I guess

Absolutely NOT.
You can NOT compare me with BTDT like fantassin or even put my name in the same sentence as there's ;)
I've never showed a good knowledge of weapons here and others are way more qualified to give there opinion (me I can only compare the FAMAS with .. the MAT49 lol)
I remind having read some quite interesting posts here about the FAMAS but I'm unable to find them anymore.
still here a link http://world.guns.ru/assault/as21-e.htm

hi,

being a french infantryman, the famas is my main tool. It is a pretty good weapon, accurate anp reliable. its retty expensive, reason why it has never been exported. The french infantry is cuurently using a modified version with moded carrying handle, where an aimpint or a x4 scpe can be mounted. With that scope, the precision is incredible up to 500m, and some says it threatens the frf2! (I don't believe it because of the superior power of the 7.62).
if you have any other questions...

From what i can remember, a pretty good weapon, even if it had some default, like any weapon.
i had the chance to shoot it extensively, and now that the M16a1 shorten version is my tool, I can make a few comparaisons.
Going for it, the FAMAS is very compact yet incredibly accurate, and, added cool factor, the built in Bipod that come`s very handy.

It`s three round burst + full auto + semi selector is pretty handy.

Having used it both in European and tropical setting, I noticed thought a few issues, mainly, the fragility of the extractor, and its propension to rust in humid conditions, no matter how maintained the rifle is.

The magazines of 25 had really bad springs, and i rule out our unit being issued class B equipment.

It`s 'high on sight' feeling, making you feel you`d be in trouble to keep a low profile, but this is purely subjective.

All in all, a good weapon, and the last evolution with the lower handle and the aimpoint seems really good, when it will take in the Stanag Magazine, life will be beautifull for the french soldiers i guess.

Here you go bro
A guy I know here owns one in his collection. We were even gonna go shoot it to record sounds for a military project i was involved in.

But I took tons of photos in details of it. Interesting weapon. The friend who owns it said its a good all around rifle. He likes it better than AUG in many factors.
