What kind of weapon is the OFW soldier in this picture holding? Is it electronic, caseless, etc...? Or, is it just a mock-up?

It's a rubber duck. made to look like "The Basic Combat Infantry Weapon System Of The Future!" or TBCIWSOTF!
It's just a peice of plastic that the guy they doll up as the Future Warrior is given. supposed to have everything DARPA wants in a gun, and nothing that actually works.

Also, not sure if they picked the uniform/camouflage for the FFW. I think that the much criticized ACU uniform and pattern are only temporary. The uniform design shown is from Crye and pattern is Crye's Multicam but I believe this is only for show and not what will actually be used.
As far as I know, the US still has not even decided what weapon/caliber to use for their future infantry. They came close to adopting the HK XM-8 but that was dropped pending further review.

I doubt the Army even has thought about what pattern they will be using. The ACU will stay with us as long as the Woodland pattern did, unless it is proven, to ineffective in other regions of the world. Or they develope a color shifting/ Chamelon material that can hold up under real combat conditions.
As far as what the FFW will be wearing it is more likely that he will look more like the soldiers of today than the "Motorcross style Imperial Stormtrooper" Demonstrator they are showing off. Sure he will have a computer and such but over all he will be a Grunt with all the Grunt stuff, sure maybe smaller stuff, better stuff, hopefully better thought out stuff, definatly more expensive stuff, but still grunt stuff, that we carry today.
Uniform
Protective armor
Helmet
Weapon
Water
Food
Bullets
Grenades
Fighting knife
Backpack
a load of things that take Batteries and that react poorly to water
and a TOE list of required "wiz bang" gadgets that make him weigh an extra 200 lbs when dry. Ah Progress .
