Came across this CS shotgun round. So how does this round work? Does it shoot out a mini tear gas canister? Excuse the crappy cell phone pics.

I think it works like a 40 mm round. Theres a smaller round (pouch/ paintball like) inside the shell, and when the gun is fired the smaller round explodes when it hits the target. And when this happens the tear gas is given off.
Liquid or powder filled projectiles designed for barricade situations.
The projectiles are fin stabilized for accuracy (like a mini ferret round).
Since these projectiles are not pyrotechnic in nature, they do not pose a significant fire-starting hazard (as opposed to 37/40mm ferret rounds).
Available in CN, CS, and OC.
Can be fired from most 12ga smoothbore shotguns such as the Remington 870. Impact during target penetration ruptures a weakened circular section in the projectile nose, releasing the liquid or powder payload. Instantly produces a large volume of agent mist inside the target area.

My guess? it shoots a slug that bursts on impact, making the gas.

That's an interesting round. Guess it's not really available for the general public though?
