Many people on this site have said that the UN tagged Iraqi WMDs in 1998 before they were kicked out. Now the UN is saying they didnt have any past 1994? whats the deal with this

UN is a big bureaucracy, I doubt the Secretary General is saying for sure Saddam had no WMD past 1994.

Probably just someone stating their opinion from within the UN. There are plenty of weapons inspectors who know what they did in 98.

convoys of trucks were seen leaving factories north of Bagdahd headed towards syria about 3 weeks before the war began. large convoys. Under heavy guard.

Syrian towns of al-Baida, Tal Snan, Sjinsjar, are possible locations.

Pure conjecture and not based on any publicly available facts from a reliable source, given the present political climate and the US coalitions drive to eliminate WMD's in the Mid-East you would think that steps would have been taken to secure these WMD's but there has been nothing more than an request to Syria to give up any WMD development programs.

Are you in the CIA SeanAshi

Trucks were stopped and found to be carrying huge amounts of American dollars, I think it was, how do you know that these other convoy's weren't just transporting more of the Regimes wealth out of Iraq. As was said, pure conjecture.

Define Heavy Guard..........someone who weighs 20 stone?

Lets see again I'll draw up a little scenario.

Would you move such a prized assets Overtly ,under Heavy Guard,in convoys of 30+ vehicles,if so given the importance of the "cargo" would you have Helo Top cover, which was still allowed under UN resoloutions, also having along at the Very least a Republican Guard Motor Rifle Battalion as protection, given the value of the "cargo",which all of this would be monitored closely by satellites etc, also HUMINT,and off course SOF .........................or

Would you attempt to move this "cargo" covertly over a longer period of time, with smaller vehicles and a less than suspicious "escort"?
