:roll: Humm... It looks like a screen capture from a movie. We all know how good they are on propaganda :| Especially some 20 or 25 years ago if I remember correctly.
"Heroic" pose, smokes, charging soldiers... Highly suspicious to me.
But I could be wrong ;)
BTW Argyll, where is the graphic nature of this pic ? We have seen hundreds of much more horrible pictures before (that's one of the reason why I left the site for some weeks) :(

Nothing wrong with 3ha post it is a good photo. It has a powerful meaning of sacrifice in it. If it was tasteless or gross that’s different whose smart idea was it anyway to put a Canadian in charge? Don’t take that the wrong way Canadian members of the forum

I think this picture is very powerful in its nature; not for the fact that its relation to the military, but its symbolic reprentation of life and will power. How one is willing to spend his last breath on some that he blieves and then dies after the goal is met, even though the goal is a symbolic representation of his country.

Three of them died on Iwo Jima. The rest (3) survived and went on a war bond tour.
Sgt. Strank and Pvts(?) Sousley and Block didn't survive.
Corpsman Bradley, Cpl Gagnon ant Pvt Hayes survived.
Hayes was a pima indian, and a notorious drunk. There have been two movies and a song by Johnny Cash made after him. He died in 1950's after a blurred night including plenty of booze.
