I ordered two..They just came in..One is absolutely saturated with a white dust and is sticking to everything including me my dogs..Any idea what it is? Im guessing some preservative for the rubber on NBC gear..

Also how the hell many times does the British army re-issue these thing..I have one that has about 6 dofferent names on it..;-)

Could be the Fuller's Earth powder from NBC de-contaminent sachets. If your eyes/throat/nose is OK, I assume it's not an irritant powder from training pellets.

Could well be that these came from a training unit where kit is often re-issued, unlike on a regular unit. Way back when I did my officer training, some of my webbing had a whole list of names on it.

Thanks for the reply mate...The hoods to the Old US M17s were packed in a white dusty mess..I belive its the basicly the same junk...feels that way to the touch though its been a long time..I washed it out with a garden hose ..it kinda repelled the water when it hit it...I feel a bit of irratation but nothing along the lines of CS training agent..Probably because i opened them in a very inclosed room (walk in closet) and it went every where.......

These are nice pouches BTW...They'll make good kit bags!

I think this powder is a preservative and keeps the rubber from sticking together e.g. gas mask hoods and ALICE pack liners.

I think your right.........same stuff they put on party ballons and it irritates my skin just the same.

I think I have one of these (unissued) in olive drab. They also make dandy rope bags, holding about 80ft of 12mm synthetic rapp. rope.

Is this it? (on top of rucksack)

It looks the same color but i really cant tell if its the OD version..I have two OD versions here too but wanted DPM because the paint wouldnt stick lomg top the OD version...Anyhow thanks for posting but i just cant say if its the same.

Is that a DPM Ducth canteen cover?

Yeah I got two of those, not half bad. The fabric is a bit tougher than USGI canteen pouches.

I'll get a few pictures of my promask bag, see if it's the same and all.

Yes thats the exact OD version i have..Actually i got two of them for 11 ReichsMarks from Sportsmans last year..One of mine has those snaps and the other has snaps like on the DPM version..
