You need some more mags for that badboy.

Next on my list is the Compact Tactical...was thinking hard last night whether or not to sell my regular Tactical for a compact.

I have 5 for it. 2-12 and 3-10. I shoot it every weekend. LOVE THE THING. Gonna get my CHL too. Keep the compact.

P2000 is compact and then they have the P2000 SK which is smaller.

Size is about the same as a P2000, grip is slightly longer and 15round mags are standard

It's not the usual case, but this time I completely agree with sergey. Dunno if that P30 shoots better than USP Compact but its surely more "aesthetically challenged".

The P30 looks like a pistol Batman would use.

Bastard child of a P2000 and P99...ugh. i'll stick with my USP

I don't know if you follow the same links I do, but when i click on the ones above I see a P2000 with a more comfy looking grip. It might be a matter of taste but this gun is definetly not ugly.

Actually it was just a regular P99.

Looks like HK is departing from their usual orthogonal design approach. This P30 has much more curves than the P2000 and that grip kinda reminds me of the IMI Barak

Maybe it'll grow on me but it's definately not love at first sight for me (unlike the P2000, which I fancied at first glance).

I like it. Looks aren't important in a gunfight.

like reinventing the wheel. The Human hand hasnt changed all that much in the past century or so so why all the radical redesigns in hand guns when the optimal grip configuration has long since been established?

The ocean hasnīt changed either. But would you still say that the Viking Longboats were the optimal ship hull and everything since has been nothing more than the reinvention of the wheel?

Grip configuration is definately a subjective matter which is why so many new guns these days are offering customizable grips. The 1911 may have been comfortable for its time but to say that it can't be improved upon is false IMO.

Not really applicable. The basic hull shapes of ships hasnt fundamentally changed in centuries, only the size, composition and power plant driving it. Correct grip and control over a handgun have been cited as the most important aspects for user accuracy. The whole thing has been researched to death and the results of which easily seen in most combat handguns. radically changing what has proven true for some decades for no other reason than cosmetic uniqueness seems a bit backwards in terms of practical firearm use. But then again the P30 will in all likelihood be targeted towards police and civilians who both tend to be gear whores (at least in the US)

Not all hands are the same, here you get a pistol that can fit almost any hand comfortably.
Adjustable grips are also a requirement for the next US service handgun
so you'll see more of that stuff in the future.

So, what is this perfect combat handgun that you're referring to? Is it the 1911? The beretta? The glock? I'm just curious. I totally respect your opinion but I'm just having a hard time believing that all these new innovations in grip modularity are coming out purely from a cosmetic standpoint.

I've handled many diffferent handguns and they all had their own unique feel to them. I'm sure if I practiced long and hard enough on a particular gun, I could attain a certain degree of proficiency for ANY of them but if I had to pick a most comfortable gun, I'd have to say my CZ75 w/ Hogue rubber grips feels the best and shoots the best in my hands.

For me? 1911 grip angle coupled with hogue grips. Natural pointability is pretty good and I find the positioning pretty comfortable. I shoot a bit high with a Glock and anything with a more severe angle just feels awkward on the draw or aim. But thats me, YMMV

The P2000 grips are perfect for my hand. I use a medium back grip for it. It's the best handgun I ever owned so far.JMO.
