What is the purpose of the "fake" observer :D on the right ? To fool enemy countersniper ? To simulate a H24 observation presence to the Palestinians ?

Damn rookies, You're not supposed to hold the helmet with your hand, don't the IDF teach you anything. ;)

I'm sorry Argyll but I had to do that, the little voice in my had told me to. please don't kill me, my mother would be sad.

Kick ass picks, please post more, I'm hooked on IDF I need my fix.

They are fantstic photos. You can take young men from the IDF pictures, the Polish pics that Remov posts, the young russians...young men who have formed a bond, look after each other, and call each other Brother.

Keep the pictures coming! These are the types of pictures that keep bringing us back everyday.

Yeah those are great pics. They are from a great site called "hevre" and there are actually thousands of pics from different units posted there. They have a section on the IDF and they divided it up into different units and it’s a place where former soldiers (or friends of the soldiers…or anyone) can come and reminisce old times (each units section has its own message board, its own pictures section etc..) , find out about upcoming events for that unit, or just to share memories and pics.

Me personally, I am a bit hesitant to post from there due to it being for the most part private pics collections but bigisraeli knows some of the people from these units he posted from (he mainly posted from only two units) and as such…..

Anyways those are great pics that he posted and yes even those pics of soldiers clowning around (which happens in all militaries) are good pics, though I am sure some of the operation flashpoint “warriors” here are shocked to see any poses or anything military other then the high speed ones (as if 24/7 soldiers look and act like that)

Just note that some of them (not all of them) or from a few years back (not too back, but not this year either ;) )

As for the dummy by the sniper. Well firstly there is always 24 hours watch so they aren’t there to replace a soldier as if there is just a dummy there, for that doesn’t happen.

There are a few reasons why they are used; one is to mimic a two man team and to fool a enemy sniper as has been stated

There are other reasons as to their use but OPSEC doesn’t allow me to got into them. (I can only assume that other BTDT’s know how else these are used………and for the 15 year olds here, no its not used for what your thinking!! ;) )

Shalom :D

Shalom buddy :D hehe  no seriously there is another great reason for their use in combat areas, but I am pretty sure its a OPSEC violation. Divulging training or combat tactics is a OPSEC violation.

I usually only talk about what is already public knowledge (or what has been made public) and things that are obvious or just things in general overtones, and that is all.

The rest (that I know) and all the details, I keep to myself.

btw the site isayeret.com got into big trouble for a lot of the info and pics they posted.

This is taken very seriously in Israel, as I am sure you can understand.

P.S. Thanks for keeping an eye out on stupid posters or postings (though you already missed one ;) ) for it’s a shame that when I or others, post pics here and to have to be worried about some snot nosed punk ruining a great thread by stupid lines or about taken it off topic into politics.

Shalom mate :D

I was a gunner in Northern Ireland. Miss that (heavy) thing!!Yes the MAG is a much loved (and hated by some that have to carry it ;) ) weapon in the IDF :D

In fact originally the IDF was supposed to replace all of them with the Negev but that hasn’t happened, and the Israeli Negev is used along with the MAG (in each “Plugah” and in each “machlakah” some soldiers carry the MAG and some carry the Negev) and they compliment each other so to speak.

Also on certain vehicles and in guard posts, the MAG is still very prevalent.

The Negev is indeed an awesome weapon but the fact that the MAG is still in use (and not retired so to speak) speaks volumes to the respect and value that this weapon has in the IDF.

Btw I was not a MAGist (that’s what we call a soldier that his primary weapon is the MAG) though I have fired it often (In training and in etc… ;) ) and I must say it packs a nice punch ;)

P.S. when are we going to see you post some “warry” brit pics.

While the IDF has that look down pat (as you like to point out :D ), you guys aren’t too shabby yourselves ;)

Shalom :D

I carried the "Gympy" for 90% of the time on my 1st tour in NI(2 years)
And when I was section 2 i/c I still didn't mind carrying it,cause I knew how to use it .

Have you ever done a CQB range with the GPMG........mental!!!

i would'nt sit on one of those in my life!

well - this specific photo has one hell of a story behind it. get this:
a long while ago, a unit from the paratroop regiment was operating deep inside gaza strip - their mission was to take out an explosives workshop. upon arrival, the unit assaulted the workshop and began preparing it for demolition. while searching the workshop they came across two beautifull, brand new yamaha motorcycles which were fully loaded with explosives! in few days, these motorcycles were to be used for another terror attack on israely cities. the motorcycles, along with the rest of the building, met an ungodly end by means of some more explosives (made in israel, this time...)

At least I had one correct answer ;) I understand the OPSEC but can you simply tell us if this "special" use is peculiar to the IDF or not ?
