They're usually signifying naval service. You get a certain kind of bird for miles travelled on a ship. One of my buds who was a submariner just got his first bird a few weeks ago.

my helmet covers off, took trip to store for paint....now i need rebel stickers, i found a new design for my helmet, thanks a million, im sure the guys will get a kick out of that next time we're out

The swallow tatt is certainly a naval tradition. I love to see some one call him a mincer to his face, that would be fun.

In Switzerland, the swallow is a typical jail-tattoo (but not only), maybe because we don't have a sea and nearly no naval forces.

That tatoo is kind of unique, too easy to spot.

Long time watcher, first time poster,

This has always been 3 of my fav. pics but i cannot seem to make out the type of binoculars the operator with the t-shirt has attached to his rig, also does anyone have any information on what kind of communications special forces use when on foot?
