Sweden:
Ordningspolisens Nationella Insatsstyrka (ONI - National Rescue Unit - part of the Stockholm Police Dept)
It's not called ONI anymore. These days it's just NI, Nationella Insatsstyrkan. Then of course, we have our local "SWAT" units, Pikéten.

Ok, folks I'm SLOWLY making changes. I'm finally getting the computer to act correctly, but I still have to try to recover some material (and my word processing program will suddenly lock up and shut off at ramdom - BACK UP EVERYTHING). So please bare with me on this.
How are you guys liking this so far?
Also I may throw up a couple of very small profiles that I have not posted to Specwarnet for you to read over.
Dominique

Strated updating the list. A VERY BIG thank you goes out to Juan Pablo Lasterra for all his help, and I encourage you guys to go by his material and read it. He's published material in English (Special Ops), French (RAIDS), and Spanish (Several Magazines). It's vary good stuff.
I'll continue to update as I get time and more material.
Spain
Unidad Especial de Intervencion (UEI - Civil Guard CT unit)
Grupo de Acción Rápida (GAR - Civil Guard SWAT units)
Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO -National Police CT unit)
GEOS (Grupos Especiales de Operaciones) (National Police SWAT teams)
Grup Especial d'Intervencio (GEI) (Catalonia Police SWAT)
Berroci Berezi Talda (BBT- Basque Police tactical unit)
Some corrections
Cuerpo Nacional de Policía ("Policía Nacional") (National Police)
-Grupo Especial de Operaciones (GEO) [Operations Special Groups]
-Grupo Operativo Especiales de Seguridad (GOES) [Security Special Operativ Group]
The tasks of the GEO are many. They are the CT unit of the Policía Nacional, but they have performed assaults to ships carrying drug in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, VIP protection and embassies protection in places like Beirut or Kinshasha during the war...
There are 8 GOES. They are SWAT teams, 7 of them placed all around Spain and 1 of them attached to the office of the Prime Minister (I suppose for VIP protection).
Guardia Civil (Guardia Civil)
-Unidad Especial de Intervención (UEI) [Special Intervention Unit)
http://www.guardiacivil.es/quesomos/organizacion/operaciones/uespeciales/uei/index.jsp
-Grupo de Acción Rápida (GAR) [Quick Action Group]
http://www.guardiacivil.es/quesomos/organizacion/operaciones/uespeciales/uar/index.jsp
The main role of the GAR is fighting against terrorism. You find them performing road check points, patrolliing the frontiers... Due to the military nature of Guardia Civil they go through a special operations training.
Policía Autonómica (Regional Police)
Mossos d'Esquadra (in Catalonia)
-Grup Especial d'Intervenció (GEI) [Special Intervention Group]
Ertzaintza (in Basque Country)
-Berroci Berezi Talda (BBT) [Berroci Special Group]
Both of them are SWAT teams

Lobo, see my reply to your other post on Spanish SOF units. Once again thanks for thaking the time to reply.
Australia:
Queensland Special Emergency Response Team (SERT)
New South Wales State Protection Group (SPG)
Victoria Special Operations Group (SOG)
Tasmania Special Operations Group (SOG)
Northern Territory Police Territory Response Group (PTRG)
Western Australia Police Tactical Response Group (PTRG)
South Australia - Police Special Tasks and Rescue Division (PSTRD)
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Australian Federal Police (AFP) Special Operations Team (SOT)
Little bit of a whinge...but I'd have noted that all are "Police" units, eg: Queensland Police SERT" etc. No biggie.
Re: ACT SOT..... it is no longer SOT, nor have have they been for about 12-18 months...they had a bit of a re-orginisation and reformed as "Australian Federal Police Specialist Response and Security Team" aka AFP SRS.
Re: New South Wales Police State Protection Group Tactical Operatiopns Unit. ............SPG only refers to the unit that includes the TOU, Rescue and Bomb Squad, Security Management Branch, Witness Security, Negotation Unit etc.... Thus the actual tactical unit is the TOU and not the SPG in itself.
NSW Police also have about 10-12 part time tactical teams around the state called State Protection Support Units (SPSU), basically part time "SWAT" units used to support the SPG TOU or deal with things until they arrive etc.
Australian Customs also have the National Marine Unit which is a team of heavily armed boarding officers that perform genaral ship boarding and fast rope assaults onto ships for Aus Customs related stuff.
Australian Protective Service (APS) provides Counter Terrorist First
Response (CTFR) serives to airports and other Government locations, and the APS also maintains specialist heavily armed mean looking teams for prisoner transport and security operations etc.........
Boy am I being picky today..........see what promotion does to you! :D

Brazil:
Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais (BOPE) (Military Police Special Operations Battalion)
Corpo de Operações Especiais (COE - Special Operations Corps-Parana State Military Police special ops unit)
-Grupos de Operações Especiais (Military Police special ops groups)
Grupo de Açòes Táticas Especiais (GATE)
Grupo Armado de Repreensão a Roubos e Assaltos (GARRA) (SWAT/EOD unit)
Dominique, here are some units' links you requested:
BOPE (from Rio de Janeiro Military Police): http://www.policiamilitar.rj.gov.br/bope/. To see some official pictures:http://www.policiamilitar.rj.gov.br/bope/fotos.htm;
GARRA: it's not a Swat team itself. It's a special patrolling group from São Paulo Civil Police (In Brazil, each police has your own function: Military - patrolling; Civil - investigations). So, GARRA acts like a patrol group, inside the investigative police, in violent areas, prison riots, prisioners scapes, arrest of violent criminals and other missions they are told to do by the Police's chief. Inside GARRA, there is a small group, called GER - Grupo Especial de Resgate - Special Rescue Group (although, here in São Paulo, they make more negotiations with the criminals in hostage crisis than raids, made generally by GATE, from Military Police. Anyway, GER is trained to make both missions). Link to official site: http://www.policia-civ.sp.gov.br/garra/inicio.htm; To see EOD site, click on "Esquadrão Antibomba". (GER doesn't still have an official site).
COE (Comando - not "Corpo - Corp" - de Operações Especiais, Special Operations Command). From Parana, I found an unofficial site: http://geocities.yahoo.com.br/swatcoe/. There are a lot of picture on the link: "COE - 1988". Paraná's COE missions includes: EOD, HRT/SRT, sniping team, search and rescue (specially in jungle areas), K-9, riot control.
In São Paulo there's also a COE, from Military Police, but this command, nowadays, has a specific mission: search and rescue in jungles areas. The target of these searches can be criminals hidden or people that go hiking and get lost there. Unfortunetely, there's no site about COE (and that's sad, because they are one of the most well-equipped and trained units of São Paulo Police . . .). Just for curiosity, COEs were created in the
military governmet to act as counter-guerilla units in that time.
GATE: see one of my posts around here: http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=10016&highlight=.
And there is a Tatical Operations Command, from Federal Police. Official site: http://www.dpf.gov.br/COT/COT.htm. For pictures: http://www.dpf.gov.br/COT/relimg_compl.htm. Unofficial site: http://www.tropaselite.hpg.ig.com.br/COT_policial_federal_.htm.
All of these site have no english version . . .
The problem about these units you requested is that every brazilian state has two polices and each of them has your special group/swat team, and all of their names are very similar (GOE, GATE, COE, BOPE) and it's almost impossible to find every information about them.
I hope my post can help you. Any doubt, please, just tell me. Sorry if I posted a lot of information together.
By the way, congratulations for you great site!!!
Dominique

Actually, I had a rough Idea of waht they did (one of the COE officers sent me a link to the site last year), but thank for the other links and info, good stuff. :D

Netherlands:
BBT
BSB
BBT doesn't exist, it's called the BBE (Bijzondere Bijstands Eenheid). It's a Marine unit, specialized in hostage rescue operations. BSB (Brigade Speciale Beveiliging) is part of the the Military Police, sepcialised in bodyguarding etc. KCT/CT, part of the KCT (Commando's), is more secret.
There's another unit, the AT (Arrestatie Team), which operates at a lower level. Tasks are for example arresting dangerous criminals.

And then we have something callaed HV-016 (HV- Heimevernet=Home Guard) wich is a all volunteer specialist counter terrorist\VIP protection and such unit that organizes under the Home Guard.

Dom,
You forgot about the Special Action Force (SAF), Philippines.
The local cities and provinces do have their own SWAT teams, but they aint't that well heard of and their prestige is not that similar to the SAF (Well, with the exception of the Manila SWAT team).
BTW on Japan, the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
If you want info, let me know.

What is the recruitment requirement of the Specialist Search Group? This group's kinda low key, same with the Special Tactics Group. Anybody have some data about the STG?

Dom,
http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~sbu/DATABASE-JAPAN.htm
The data is in Japanese. Checked it on a translator and it appears that the SIT is sort of a SWAT unit.
http://www5f.biglobe.ne.jp/~sbu/DATABASE-JAPAN-SAT.htm
Here's a link on the Special Assault Team. Recent stints include the recapture of a hijacked bus in 2000 from a psycho teen wielding a knife and providing security details to visitors, delegates and major VIPs during the Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup in 2002.
You may need some help with the Japanese text. Tried Altavista, but the translation is not that good, but understandable.

D11 was a million years ago (1980 and before), PT17 was a tactical type unit for "The Met" and all merged and became SO19 in the early 1990's.

OK, I made a few more changes, and I'll be adding more to the list in a few days. Please feel free to let me know if what I've posted is out dated, or just flat out wrong.
Also, The list of US SWAT teams is no where close to listing every single team. I'm just trying to provide an overview of some of the larger or more famous teams out there.

Police:
ZOA - central unit (Zarzad Operacji Anyterrorystycznych – Antiterrorist Operations Directorate)

CBS (Centralne Biuro Sledcze - Central Investigation Bureau) has one central and couple regional tactical teams
And there are dozens of local part time police tactical teams
Other law enforcement agencies:
ABW – Internal Security Agency – Vth Department – CT force
Border Guard – one central tactical team , and couple regional special platoons

Kruglerek, how about a quick overview of what each agency is responsible for? Like who handles customs, drugs/narcotics, VIP protection, etc.

CBS (Centralne Biuro Sledcze - Central Investigation Bureau) - is responsible for fighting with organized crime groups (car thiefs, narcotic traffic etc.)
Treasury Documentation Bureau (Biuro Dokumentacji Skarbowej) – treasury police - is responsible for fighting with financial crimes, tax frauds etc. Local tactical teams are also supporting custom officers (Castom Service had its own tactical team but this unit was disbanded some years ago).
BOR (Biuro Ochrony Rzadu – Government Protection Bureau) – is responsible for protection of Goverment members. Tactical support team acts as a tactical support for close protection agents.

BBT does exist but they are Antwerp (Belgium) SWAT

After many moons, I've finally decided to get back to updating the info here. Because this stuff is so old, I have no way of modifying the list on the front page, so once I get around to it, I'll post a new list of units.

Actually I'd like to edit both this, and my "Elite Units" thread, but don't have a clue as to how I can do it. If any of the mods can let me know how to do it, it'd be appreciated.

There may be a time limit on edits. Send one of us a PM of the post and the edit and we'll get to it, the other way you could do it is to post report it with the edit details in the report.

I'll start shooting you PM's at your convenience. I figure the easiest thing to do is a county, by country list. For smaller countries, I can group them together. Shoot me a PM when you're ready for me.

The Netherlands' entry is missing the UIM, which is the former BBE:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijzondere_Bijstands_Eenheid
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bijzondere_Bijstands_Eenheid
For domestic CT, it operates under the jurisdiction of the Justice Ministry instead of the MoD.
There's UE&OO(Unit Expertise&Operationale Ondersteuning) as well, but i'm not sure if it can be seen as a CT unit in the most narrow sense of the word, as it supplies the snipers for domestic CT operations(according to the webz) but it is the the amalgamation of the old BBE-P and BBE-K units.
