Who is winning the war

My question is, do you think the west/allied nations are winning the war, or is bin laden getting exactly what he wants?

Before 9/11, the west didnt care too much about Afghanistan, but after we go in and are there for a while we are seen as taking over a islamic nation. Granted, signs point to bush wanting to take out saddam almost as soon as he took office, but the US is the occupying force in another muslim nation. Now, would it seem as if bin laden is getting what he wants by having the US run over these countries, and thus giving al qaeda more recruits? Or would the US seem the victor as taking out its enemies.

I know the wording for my question is a lil focked up, but 9 beers will do that to anyone.

Yes the US and coalitions actions overseas has been a boon for Al-Q recruitment I think even 911 gave Al-Q a lot of kudos in militant islamic circles they were seen as men of action rather than rhetoric spewing mullahs.
Invading Iraq a secular Muslim nation albeit ruled by a dictator may have further convinced many Muslims that the Great Satan America was hellbent on destroying Islam its been observed that the second wave of Islamic volunteers from Europe are comprised of less observant Muslims than the first these men seem to be convinced that the future of Islam and Arab culture is at stake.

What do you think Bin Laden wanted to happen when he ordered 9-11?

Was he aware that Afghanistan will be attacked? Yes.

Was he aware Bush will use this as an excuse to attack Iraq? Yes.
