Next Airing: Monday, May 12 @ 9pm ET/PT

The Battle of Mogadishu is a largely forgotten, yet extremely important event in U.S. military history. When 18 American soldiers were killed and images broadcast of bodies dragged through the streets of an enigmatic African city, it was a horrible blow to the national psyche. In a 2-hour review of the battle, based on Mark Bowden's bestseller "Black Hawk Down", we see how we got there, what went wrong, and explore the legacy. Includes interviews with Bowden, U.S. Rangers, and Somali militiamen. TV 14

What do you guys think of this documentary?

I think that they should've used clips from the movie(Think they made it pre-BHD though)

The "reenactments" were somewhat unrealistic at times- I liked the documentary in the BHD DVD-- That used clips from the movie itself which was very appropriate

However, the History Channel documentary still provided additional details left out in the movie like how the US(with Apaches) bombed the main political building (which held the people who wanted to talk aidid out of his warlord plans)--- Which is the main reason the somalis were so pised off

I clicked on the "watch preview" and it kept freezing at this part where two US soldiers are dragging another soldier from his harness. I cant tell because the pic is dark, but it looks like the person being drag is wearing a protec helmet.

I taped the video when it came on about 4 months ago. The video was my main recourse for my research paper on the US Intervention in Somalia. Great documentary.

There was one though that came out about 2-3 years ago about Mogadishu.I believe it was first aired on NBC for Dateline and History channel showed it about a year ago.It was pretty good because they had about 12 Rangers all sitting in one room and they were all talking together about the events in motion.Pretty cool stuff.
