Does it matter much? Are you planning to invade Nepal or something?

To my knowledge Colt didn't license FN to produce any member of the AR15/M16 family, but instead was underbid in 1988 for the contract at the time and forced to give the required information to them. I would think that the FN M16A2 would not be identified by a Colt model number.

Oh, and if you look at the stampings on both Colt and FN M16A2s, for the US government, or for export, they say M16A2 not AR-15A2, as I continue to mention ;) AR-15A2 is used to describe a number of weapons created for civilian consumption by Colt.

Actually, I think that HCV is just putting that info out for anyone who may be curious about the matter. After all, Nepal is a hotspot that has been in the news somewhat. Ever hear of the Maoists? Prachanda?

It's an Equipment and Gear forum. He's asking a legitimate question.

I have seen conflicting reports on this. The original request was denied by the German government, and they got the M16A2s instead. JANE'S INFANTRY WEAPONS claims they eventually got some G36V, but frankly, the inventory lists in JANE'S have been wrong before . . . It is not very likely that the German government denies export due to the civil war and then only a few years later approves it -- with the civil war still going on.
I have never seen photographic evidence of G36Vs in the hands of Nepalese forces. Perhaps someone else? That would certainly settle the question.

Cheers

What do the Maoists have? Do they use only the same stuff as the government forces, or do they have some hardware from out of the country?

What do you mean? Needless to say, Maoists know as well what the best gun is: G36. After all, it helped them to win the war since that drunk prince shot most of the royals with a G36. Another chapter of glory in Heckler & Koch's unlimited history of fame. Check out these rebel ladies;

I was interested in communist weaponry in use by the Maoists. Such as AKs, maybe SKSs, etc.

Actually, I think that the Maoist militia wears solid green fatigues, while regular guerillas wear camouflage.
