I feel left out... all you guys have sweet pics and images and I have crap....
MS Paint is the best I can do for "photoshopping" which is why all the stuff I make looks like paska.
*points at avatar* That's the paskanmarjat that came out of MS Paint. I know I can do better with a better programme.

Buy?! From which century are you? Now say with me: download.

Adobe Photoshop is basically the best, but it's also more complex. For easy drawing and stuff I always use Jasc Paintshop Pro.

So I'm old-fashioned?

Seriously though, I've had bad experiences with downloaded stuff.

The only thing good about my avatar is the puukko. I'm looking to buy one sometime soon.

I dont think you want to spend $600 so you dont feel left out. You can give me $600 and I'll give you all the programs you want ;)

I use Corel PHOTO-PAINT Select Edition.

Don't know if its better than Adobe Photoshop but its pretty good.

there is an adobe photoshop 'clone' made by adobe. it's $60 or something, and has all the features of the full version. check it out.

i think it's called 'photoshop elements'.

Its like the basic version of photoshoppe. It doesnt have many features that "advance" users would use.

As long as it's constructive as opposed to destructive. (I'm better at being destructive, especially when I'm RPing. :D )

thanks for posting this question Maine Finn - I was going to aks the same thing

I saw photoshop elements last night and it does run b/w $60.00 and $90.00 depending on where you go.

For those who like photoshop - is photoshop element any good?

I have the software that came with my scanner and the software that cam with my camera and together they do a lot of what I want - but neither is really good IMO. They are clumsy and take a long time to get anything done.

How friendly is photoshop?

Thanks

hank

Elements is great for normal stuff you'd do for personal use. Worth the money. I started using photoshop when it was at 4.0. It's become increasingly amazing and also increasingly difficult to master at the same time. It isn't an easy software to play with unless you use it all the time. I still have much to learn on 7.0.

I could talk you through anything you'd want to do with it and there are about 7000 forums and tutorials on the net detailing how to do things with it. Judging by his sigs, mocking is quite adept at it.

I think I'll pick it up b/c the other software is kind of annoying. It does stupid crap like when you save a picture you have edited in a certain location and then look for it you can't find it where you saved it. Then a few days later you'll find it somewhere else. the picture you find ahs the edits that you want and is usuable so it does work, but inconvenient. Not really a deal-breaker but just a pain in the ass.

I'm not sure about Elements but regular Photoshop allows you to save files in about 30 ways.

ps elements is fine if you want to draw and edit pics. some high end cmyk options and cross options with other programs are out but it works fine if you actually want to buy it.

for those of you who can id grab ps cs.

correl painter is a fine app, my friend uses it and he's currently ditching it in favor of PS because ps has better save and compressions features and kinder layer editing. or my friend is just a dumb ass and doesnt know how to use correl. probably a little of both.

if you just want to do art and editing photoshop versions of 5 and 6 will easily foot the bill if you can find them and much cheaper if you want to buy them.

if you want to use a app that has the most realistic brushes around grab painter 8 classic or pro. its geared toward digital replication of natural media and is the best at what it does.

all the apps have a learning curve. outside of playing with the basic tools simple questions of how to do this or that can be answered quickly.

Been using the trial version of Photoshop Elements all day and it is great. I don't need whatever it can't do!

Thanks for the help

That may be so. But Hell is a good place to be compared to being sued by a multi national company.
