BTR Destroyed

I saw some discussion of parts of this image in another thread on the Stryker. I thought I would open another thread about a version of that image that I have in my possession.

Some in that thread believed the image to be from the Soviet-Afghan War, but if this image is accurate, then it is infact from the recent war in Afghanistan involving US forces.

Obviously, there is some recognition problems (calling a BTR-60/70 a BMP, but still interesting, nonetheless)

I know this film as from Chechniya. This BTR was destroyed by a road mine.

As I remember, it's an image from Chechnya and it was a mine, not an airstrike.

Like i already said: They are Russians that first are blown and after that shot at with rifles and MG:s, also the footage is originally from Kavkaz and is recorded by terrorists of a kind or a another, only the place and date is unclear to me.. (Chechnya or Afghanistan.. late 80s or first Chechnya war..)

Hm, I wonder what that secondary explosion is, RPG? Feels a bit excessive
to fire anything against those troops afterwards, I´m sure they were all quite
dead.

Its standard Chechen tactic.. to have first large IED to blow up or disable the vehicle, the they detonate a second (usually smaller) IED to kill the potential survivors or their rescuers..

Just to be clear, I did not write that.

I saw bits of this image in the Stryker discussion, and had it on my hard drive. I thought it might be helpful or add something to the discussion.

I guess it is infact inaccurate!

are those soldiers being blown into the air? Im not sure if one of the pics has a soldier getting tossed 50 ft into the air, or if its just piece of the APC.

Its people flying.. that was most propably a 122 or 152mm arty shell boosted with some explosives.. that went off.. but BTR was also SPEEDING to it.. +60kmh..

Afaik this video is made by russian spetnaz. They blowing a BTR up full of allah-lovers.

Maybe im wrong - but thats what i saw once about this video.
