hey, I wanted to ask the esteemed guys on this forum about this gun, I read stuff on the net about it(mostly positive) and just wanted to check if anyone had any oppinions on it, or actually owns or used one, since in this forum it seems nobody pulls punches...
I got an offer for one, thats why I am asking... its got a few rounds wear(he sais about 50) an he is asking for 970chf or about 750.66usd or 617.6eur... I am sorta keen on getting a 9mm to supplement my other 2 guns, but not desperate...

Ah, another swiss.
I shot a few thousand rounds with a Sphinx AT2000PS which is pretty similar to the one you asked. Let's say the following things:
- Sphinx is great to shoot, very accurate
- Keep the gun alwys clean, it's not a SIG or a Glock...
- It's not a reliable gun, it's a gun for the range and maybe Combat shooting
- The price seems okay, but look at it very close, check out for hairline cracks (Haarrisse) in the area of the de-cocking lever (Abspannhebel) and the hold-open button (Verschlussfanghalteknopf). If it has these, don't buy it.
- Check if the hammer falls back in the safe position when you release the hammer, if not, don't buy it, will cost you a lot to repair this.
- Check out the sights, they are often broken or damaged in old guns.
Like I said, it's a great gun (veeerrrrry accurate, smooth to shoot) for the range, but nothing with the endurance and the reliability of a Glock or SIG. But the price seems okay.
P.S: ****, just realised how hard it is to talk about technical gun details in a foreign language...

Haarisse= hairline cracks
Abspannhebel= de-cocking lever
Verschlusshalteknopf= bolt hold-open device/button (not sure about this one)

Yes it is... the horror to talk about details of a gun in a foreign language...

Damn, there is no such thing as an easy choice... I just want a 9mm gonna make me be able to shoot like the guy from equilibrium, jk... but still... not reliable? howzat? is that just meant as in its not a infantry weapon? and thanks for the mention on the hairline cracks, I will keep an eye out for that, but is the sphinx ****e to such things? (I am a bit of a noob with handguns) I was also thinking about a glock at some point, but I am not confortable with it yet, maybe I should make another date with one. I also like the Sig's, I just havent played enough with one either, the handgun I own is a el cheapo 1911(I still love it though). how can you know your going to like a gun if you havent had the opportunity to shoot a couple of 100 rounds threw it?
I got a picture sent: http://img103.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sphinxp200016it.png

The sphinx is basically a expensive CZ75.
If you like those kind of guns, look at the CZ SP01 - great piece and a hot candidate for IPSC Production Class

Damn it, I hate the being a noob feeling...
does anyone know a gunrange where I can test guns in Switzerland? I wish I had some cool officers during my army that let me shoot their pistols, but I think I freaked them out by actually enjoying shooting... sigh, "*%)"+ç"*%)"*ç=%/!!!

Check out www.gunfactory.ch, click on SERVICE, then Schiessanlagen.
I've dealt with them before and can recommend their service.

I know it is very late but my friend from IPSC shooting had Sphinx and slide was broken after 40000 rounds. So I use CZ75SP01, and no problem. Reliable, accurate it is good for my hands. I have G17 too but I feel better during shooting with SP01 and in holster too.
