Shows a fairly consistent level of attacks in certain areas around the larger settlements.

Baghdad just stays red.

Incredibly old.

As it runs up to Feb 22, 2006, it can't be that old Einstein...

I thought it was interesting to look at certain days, or periods of time (Like the "Battle for Faluja (sp?) ) and you could see when they started or ended by how many casualties appeared.

A couple of other interesting observations:

Anyone see the "dots" pop up in Kuwait pretty much the day the war started, do you think those where troops lost while staged in Kuwait?

You can see when the insurgancy got on its feet and going through the progression of time.

Yes, it is very sobering.

Thats pretty intresting never seen it before!!!!!!!!!!!

If you notice most of the incidents occur rather close to the rivers in the west and north leading almost in a trail to baghdad now i know most of the cities are along the river but it almost looks like some kind of supply trail.

Attacks dont just happend out in the middle of nowhere. they happen where people are. Ie people are near the rivers, thats were alot of iraqs population lives, Agriculture and supplys

Someone should "map dot" the enemy deaths to that map. That way we can see that our side does shoot back.

We could, but then the map would be all red.

The Iraq/insurgent casualtie dots would appear in the same places as coalition casulaties, but at a much accelerated rate per day.

insurgents...freeedom fighters....occupation resistance fighters....words to hide behind.

They are by any definition, terrorists. And I for one would not care if the entire map were red with them.

Isn't terrorist another word to hide behind?

In the last half year (6 months) US casualties have continued to drop month to month. This month is shaping to be one of the lowest number of US KIA in almost a year.

While at the same time, Iraqi security and civilian deaths have increased dramatically.

Don't be deluded into to thinking the insurgency has been weakened in the least...It hasn't.

Id rather have insurgents fighting IPs then US soldiers. Isn't that the point? Wasn't that the point in Vietnam?? (not that there are that many paralells, just the fact that both were counterinsurgency campaigns)

We're reading this graph differently. It's late, so check up on my adding skills. But I don't see any consistant statistically significant evidence of a fall in casualties.

Well, March marked the sith straigh month of continual decline...that has never happened before since the intial invasion...and March was the lowest number of casualties in two years almost exactly. I would say that is a significant developing trend....statistically, that is.

Let me put it this way...if we were talking about stock prices (on a par with the casualty numbers) we would all be dashing for the "sell" counter cause things are definately going toward a recession.
