petraeus is the man...my pops knows him pretty well, apparently! They spent a good amount of time together in iraq (my pop's a war correspondent for cable news)...incredible scholar/soldier apparently and a rare breed these days.
He had the mosul region amazingly squared away at an early stage...now the stryker ibct share the 101st's previous AO and comparatively, they're a little green and struggling with the new weapon system.
Petraeus seems to be intelligent. He was pretty much idolized during the war. He beat some private in push-ups for a photo-op. War needs heroes.
Given all the anti-war racket about oil, isn't it a bit outrageous to call their forward operating bases Exxon and Shell?
