ARAS - the Police department’s Rapid Reaction Unit, a shadowy spectre, quite literally the cutting edge of Lithuanian law enforcement. Although little heard of outside their own reborn country, within their borders they represent national stability, democracy, law and order.

Formed in 1991, the nucleus of ARAS (folk translation - Eagle) was a different instrument to that of the specialist unit, which has evolved today. It was originally formed after independence out of dire necessity. With the overnight capitulation of the Soviet Communist system, parts of Eastern Europe tumbled into political, economical and social turmoil. The Old Guard had fallen by the wayside only to be replaced by a new malignant tumour, the so-called “Russian Mafia

lol tx for the picks,
wierd ive seen one of these from my friend who was in aras he showed me some real pictures I gues someone scaned one of them.

I wish they would do some real military parades like in europe where people could eat military food shot some rounds (under supervision afcorce) see some tactics in action as I recall I used to go in my city kaunas thay had a training brigade there, they used to put out some tactical shows.

lmao once i remember they had to call Aras in to my school cause someone called in and said that school is riged hehe i got half day of :)

later on i found out that guy who did this went to "rival" school, he had to pay 2000 litas back than it was 500 dolars for his stupid actions
lmao he was in...5th or 6th grade too...

I wonder what would happen if someone did this in us

Good ole' 105 HM2s....

I have heard Sweden is giving away tons of military equipment to the Baltic states but that they are very choosy and don't want the old Swedish stuff but just the new american stuff. Any truth in that ?

The HM2 are obviously not a good example of US delivered cutting edge technology of course....

I think there is economy in it as well. The reason to why Sweden is donating
all this equipment is because it would be scrapped, keeping it in storage costs a
****load of money, I think it´s the same for the baltic countries. They want
equipment they can use, and not old crap that is meant to be stored for the
eventuality of a war. But not all equipment donated is old crap, for example
Sweden has donated Bill ATGM´s. Maybe more importantly they also get training,
higher officers gets training in example in Finland and so forth, also officer
cadets are trained abroad, during my army days we had 3 Baltic officer cadets
in my company, doing the same things we did and learning how conscript training
is done "the western way". Also some conscript training is done abroad, in example
the Estonian soldiers in the artillery are are shooting their rounds with their
Finnish-donated artillery in Finland.

south-eastern Finland under the watchful eyes of Finnish officers.

The gun the Finns have donated to the Estonians, was used by the Finns
during the second world war! Although it was modernized in the 60´s, needless
to say it´s hm very obsolete nowadays, in the Finnish army it has been replaced
by 120 mm long-range mortars.
