I got interested a few months ago, and I have the following setup in my dodgy Renault P.O.S:

I bet your car audio is more expensive then the acutal car.

You are pretty close..
I started out trying to keep the price within 10-15% of the cars purchase price.
But as most hobbies do it "snowballed" on me. Ending up at aprox 50-60% of the cars purchase price.
But its been a work in progress for about a year, doing small tidbits once in a while.

It basicly boils down to that I dident have a hobby, so I tought myself about basics in car audio..
And enjoyed myself in my dads little workshop, cutting wood panels to sthrenghten the "hat rack" and making a new floor for my trunk and so on..
Now im back to beeing a student so any further projects is on hold, but I would like to do an install again someday. Hopefully with more high-end components for better result..

Cheers

I have still not heard a factory setup whitch has impressed me. Heard some rather good ones but none that impressed me in regards to the price of the car and the quality put into the sound department.

But, german cars has a an advantage because of better sound proofing whitch makes the system sound cleaner.

It seems Volvo is the first to take the step towards better factory systems in their cars. They have a deal with Danish Dynaudio..
http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/auto/volvo.php

One of those I would like to give a listen....

Im somewhere in between SQ and SP when it comes to preference.
I once sat in the car with a friend of mine when he played 147DB!
It was extremly difficult to breathe, and my vision was blurry like you wouldent belive..

I had the pleasure of test-driving the Audi A5 with the Bang & Olufssen sound system. Extremely nice sound, engineered especially for the A5.

Bang & Olufsen sound
- pure driving experience
You’ve probably noticed how great music can add significantly to your driving experience, especially when played from a superb sound system – and how a poorer sound system can have the exact opposite effect. So, when you choose the new Audi A5, we hope you will also choose the sound system that has been created to match the qualities and performance of your new car.

Why accept second best?
There are many fine car-audio systems on the market today. However, if you want an integrated sound solution that matches your Audi A5 with respect to both the audible and the visual experience, you’ll find that the Bang & Olufsen Sound System is exactly what you’re looking for.

For starters, our acoustic engineers placed fourteen tailor-made loudspeakers around the interior of the car with the sole purpose of spoiling both you and your passengers with a sound so rich, so detailed, and so crystal clear that it will take your breath away. Secondly, we added the proprietary Bang & Olufsen True Image™, an upmixing algorithm that turns the 2-channel stereo signals into perfect 7.1-channel surround sound.

Finally, we introduced Bang & Olufsen’s 10 channel Digital Signal Processing (DSP) platform; that automatically provides you with optimised sound – no matter the influence of external parameters like the road surface, the type of tires on the car, rain on the windscreen, speed etc.

Award-winning technology
behind the scenes
When, in December 2005, we introduced our first integrated sound solution for a car, the Audi A8 and S8, it swept the entire corps of reviewers off their feet and immediately won one of the most prestigious car sound system awards. Many of the groundbreaking technologies from that system are also present here in the Audi A5.

Plenty of easily controllable power
The Bang & Olufsen Sound System for the Audi A5 delivers a total power of 505 watts. But even more interesting is the way all this audible muscle is controlled simply and effectively with the car’s built-in Multi Media Interface (MMI).

Perfection for both ears and eyes
As one of the world’s finest names within the audio industry, Bang & Olufsen is renowned for combining state-of-the-art performance with intelligent design and timeless craftsmanship. All these elements are, of course, present in the Bang & Olufsen Sound System for the Audi A5. Simply listen to the sound, or take a look at speaker units with aluminum rings integrated directly into the unique grill construction, and you’ll hear and see what we mean.

So prepare for something out of the ordinary when you slip into the new Audi A5. It’s a coupé out of the ordinary with a sound system to make you love it even more.
