it's a good gun....ungodly huge though.
Give me a SIG or HK anyday though. IMI Desert Eagle when you need the "my hand-cannon is bigger than you're water pistol" effect :D

Or rather "I have a tiny ***** so I need this massive hand-cannon to make up for it."
I quite like the look of it and woud probably use it in .357 cal... but at the end of the day it is a pistol... ie defence only.

Yes, for the .357 chambering, the Desert Eagle has a 9 round capacity, alittle more then most Revolvers chamberd for the same. However, obviously the weight and other contributing factors outweigh any good features the weapon has. This is why no real world CT/Specops team actually use the thing. Much like the Mark 23 pistol, it's alittle too heavy and large to be of good use.

Ever try Shooting one of those Beasts? The 50AE Eagle, LAR Grizzly, etc.
No thanks. But I'd take it over the BB Gun and sell it!
A 44Magnum SuperRedHawk is preferred!

Although i dont have any technical knowledge about the Desert Eagle(i saw it for the first time in the movie SNATCH)it seemed pretty impressive.I read this article on David Hackworths site about how SF ,Rangers etc in Afghanistan liked the .45 & the Eagle compared to the Berreta as it was more effective in close combat due to its power, and how some of them bought them with their own cash.
It definetely has my vote.

Lets see.
Too big to conceal
Too heavy to carry in a holster (belt or thigh - and good luck finding one)
Its not chambered in any standard military caliber
The recoil spring is so stiff its effectively impossible to perform any kind of malfunction drill.
Shoot high thumb either the safety will hit you or you'll depress the extended slide release and it wont lock back when empty
Shoot low thumb, you'll bump the slide stop up with rounds still in the magazine.
It's a great gun if you have something to prove.

"Which would you rather have in a troll battle, a +1 mace or a regular short sword ..."
Lame, puerile.
