A very eloquent summation of the solution to the illegal immigration problem.

I feel slightly disturbed that he wrote about the place I live and compared it and Finland with Mexico.
As we all know, all countrys are the same and the same results can be reached by them all, regardless of any cultural, economic, educational or other factors.

I have to say that's a load of poo. You heard right, poo I say. It is exactly those factors you mention - cultural, economic, educational - others - that determine what a country is like. And those factors are not the same in every country. Compare Afghanistan with South Korea. Both nations were decimated by war. One chose to embrace knowledge, science, achievement etc. -and is kicking everybody's @ss. The Afghans on the other hand, were going to burn a guy at the stake last week because he worshipped the wrong God.

From where I stand - color and ethnicity do not matter - they are transparent - you could raise an Afghan in South Korea and he'd wind up with a PhD from MIT. But culture, behavior, and values are everything. Had Einstein been born in Afghanistan, he would have happily lived and died within 15 miles of the hut he was born in, and never even bothered to look up.

Minor correction 2Sheds_Jackson

He was going to be killed not for worshipping the wrong God since both religions worship the same God, but simply because he chose to follow a different prophet ( Jesus ) and with that a different set of rituals.

Yes I think you're right. It's hard for me to keep it all straight, what with the constant stonings I get for worshiping at the altar of Scarlett Johansen.

This will prove to smack the Mexicans in the face. Americans don't respond well when they see a bunch of hoodlums running down the 1-o5 stopping traffic and waving Mexican flags.

States like Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Oregon, the entire south, and most of the mid west and some of the north east will easily support any bill that stops that **** in it's tracks. If I was Hispanic, I would have been ashamed to be associated with those people.

You come here to be an American, not a Mexican in another country. If our culture, language, and way of life, isn't good enough to carry with you then our money isn't good enough either.

Saddest thing of all is the majority of the people that came to this country from Mexico and didn’t break our laws doing so are the ones that will be hurt the most by some stupid Amnesty bill. If you knew that waiting 10 years to become a citizen and countless hours spent filling out paper work was all wasted, you would feel jipped by your new country too.

incorrect laworkerbee, Christian's and muslim do not worship the same G_d.

In John 14:6, Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but by me.

Although muslims say Jesus (Isa to them) is a prophet. They reject him as being the Son of God. In the words of Jesus, if you reject Jesus, (who G_D has sent) then you reject G_d!

Guess they didn't come here for the education; obviously they're lacking in that department.

Out-freakin-standing.
This is what gets good people like me to turn into serial killers! :) *face starts twitching uncontrollably*

Are there any counter-protesters to this? Anyone organizing for the security of our borders?

This ****ing pisses me off, Mexican students here in America getting free American education walk out and say "Its not your continent". Go back to Me-he-go and see if the education is better, or even the economy...

I heard of one, but they said they'd arrest em' if they held a counter-protest on school property, so they went across the street.

Double standards.

Bottom f*cking line is if you are an American citizen, and you consider this to be your country, then it is. I love America, and I take this sh*t seriously. I don't care if it's just the internet here, I live in LA and see tis BS on a daily basis. It f*cking pisses me off.

My coworkers are immigrants from Mexico and Honduras. Funny thing is they're WORKING instead of protesting. Ain't that something?

I'm glad I moved away from California... what a mess.

Lets face it America acquired these lands by force of arms, and as they can't be bothered to defend them properly any more the Mexicans are taking them back by stealth. With numbers that have crossed the borders into the southern states they will soon out number the Gringos

the article is full of 5h1t. this guys has no knowledge of mexican history or culture other than what he may have seen on tv, specially his concept of "macho" which used in the argument against immigration is ridiculous.

for anyone wanting to know the reasons behind immigration and why there is little incentive to stop it i will sumarize with the next few paragraphs

Mexico is a relatively young country, sure it "officially" got started in 1821 but it was largely a feudal system with large fiefdoms(haciendas) and serfs. this really ended in the 1920's and what was left was a largely agricultural country with a large peasant population with no land and a small urban elite .

the period from the 50's to the 70's is considered the golden age. prices for farm products where high and industries where subsidised. the economy collapsed in the 1980's. first with the collapse of the Peso, no thanks to predidents Portillo, and then with the implementation of trade treaties , largely with the US to import farm products at below mexican production cost. what this caused was the peasant population to become poorer and unemployed. the reaction to this was urban migration, but there was only so many people that the cities could absorb, and so the phenomenon of "El Norte" really picked up pace.

there had always been emigration, but never in the context where it was the only alternative to make a living. the gains where tempting , the average farm worker could work for 3 to 4 months in the US and live off savings back home for the remainder of the year. the tightening of US immigration laws stoped this cycle causing immigrants to remain in the US rather than return every year. this caused an artificial drop in uemployment in Mexico, which the goverments have used to show that their economic policies are having positive effect. in reality the US serves as a large safety valve for discontent young men who would otherwise support the left so the conservative parties , the PRI and the PAN, are in no rush to sanction emmigration, even though there are laws in the books making undocumented exit of the country a crime.

emmigration is having adverse effects on the nation as well. there are towns that are completely empty of young men, you would think there was a war going on. women are having to work "macho" jobs like dispensing gas or driving trucks, because there are no men to fill these jobs. the agriculture sector is icreasingly becoming industrialised which will only make the figth of the peasants worse.

The emmigration phenomenon is all about making money and has little to do with "pride". most of the individuals involved in the recent protests are types that are already citizens or residents and just want an excuse to complain. real immigrants, legal or otherwise, do not have the luxury to make 4$$3$ of themselves in front of the media as they are too busy working .

for solutions, the one i feel would work comes up little in immigration debate. instead of walls ,landmines, and terminator type devices, a national biometric id program for the US would prevent anyone from hiring anyone who is undocumented. an ID program where any law enforcement official could request from anyone for any reason. on mexico's part, the NAFTA treaty needs to be renegotiated where Mexico will not get the $4ft in the agricultural sector , that would encourage the farm workers to come back and work here.

I dont mean to sound like the lone conspiracy theorist but, Atlanta isnt what it used to be, the media is not in our favor, and the government has a hold on what we can do in terms of protecting our land. This is turning out "great".woot

Dude, I'm a US citizen and I came here legally from the Philippines to go to school and work(that's why this whole thing pisses me off). The flag waving is just my tribute to the old motherland, but that doesn't make me any less an American.

You know, German Americans living in the U.S. during WW2 called Germany "their motherland" and went off to fight America...How do we know that your not a domestic threat? Among others.
