What Type Of Gen. Launcher is THis?

What is the guy in the middle and guy on left holding? It looks like some type of launcher but I could be wrong. Oh if it helps its the Russian Army pictured here, but not sure what part.

A pump action grenade launcher? That's a pretty cool idea, Russian enginuity. I'm surprised there's no American equivalent... yet.

Actually, the USA had a Pump-Action Greandelauncher before the Russians had them. During vietnam, the US Army tested a 40mm Pump-Action Greandelauncher on the base of the M79. I dont know the designation, but it was used by the Navy SEALs and other units in vietnam.

The reason why the China Lake designed pump action GL was not adopted into service was that it was limited in the type of ammunition it could fire. It was not able to cycle the cannister shells and other types due to their small size compared to the standard HE shell (shown above). The Guns magazine 2001 Combat annual had a wonderful description of this and other grenade launcers that were tested for use in Vietnam.

so therefore atleast 4 types of grenades; HE, HEAT, Thermobaric and smoke.
