View Full Version : 15 Days To BCT

Well, I 've got about fifteen days until I leave for Basic Training. I'll be off to Ft. Jackson and then to Ft. Rucker for AIT. I like to tell myself I'm going on a grand adventure.

I've had a great time coming to this forum. I learned a lot from some of you here. I've had a good laugh over some of the things a few of you a posted. I've wanted to smack a few people a couple of times for things they posted. But, all in all it's been great. I don't when I'll get to check back in on this site to see what's going on, but I wish y'all the best.

I was thinking though, that when I write home I might get my sister to come to this site and post my letters here so y'all can hear what's going on with me while I'm at basic and AIT. I don't know how much time I'll have to do any writing home, but I do hope to get a few moments to pen a couple of letters at least. I thought it would be cool to let everyone here know what basic is like for me, what all I'm doing, how I'm doing...all that stuff. Kind of an "IronHeart's Letters from Basic Training" type of thing. It's just a thought though, Y'all will have to tell me if you're interested in having them posted.

Again I wish you all the best. Try and play nice together ok. Take care.

Staci "IronHeart"

I'd definitely be interested in hearing about your experiences in Basic. Ft. Rucker would be great to hear about as well.

Anyway, good luck, Ironheart. :D

 i was gonna start that whole thing where i quote you and say something that you didn't say, but i decided against it because that would totally ruin this thread. anyway, i don't know, california joe said: "3 lines, 17 syllables, 5/7/5 is the standard configuration." mine is not standard. that would be boring. ****head. p-)

i am. i don't know if my recruiter was ****ing around withy me or what, but he told me to volunteer for the quarterdeck as much as i can, and eventually the drill instructors will refuse to quarterdeck you. he was probably messing with me. not only that but my recruiter and my friends already told me they are going to send me letters that will get me in trouble. my recruiter said he is gonna send me a letter with "send a picture of the cute D.I. you told me about" on the front of the envelope. and that's my story.

One of the recruits in the book had a brother who kept sending him letters with remarks about the DIs on the envelope so he spent a lot of time there.

Yeah,

YOU need to get a USMC tattoo before you ship out. One of the big fierce ones, a skull with a dagger through it, and a banner reading "USMC - Death Before Dishonor".

MarineDep4 and Rat, pay attention too. DO this, and arrive at MCRD with a high and tight. Act like a hardass right off the bat. Out hard the Drill Instructors. That will impress them, and you will have an easier time as a nasty 'croot.
