PARIS (*******) - Telecoms equipment companies Alcatel (CGEP.PA: Quote (http://today.*******.com/stocks/overview.aspx?symbol=CGEP.PA), Profile (http://today.*******.com/stocks/CompanyProfile.aspx?symbol=CGEP.PA), Research (http://today.*******.com/stocks/ResearchReports.aspx?symbol=CGEP.PA)) and Lucent Technologies (LU.N: Quote (http://today.*******.com/stocks/overview.aspx?symbol=LU.N), Profile (http://today.*******.com/stocks/CompanyProfile.aspx?symbol=LU.N), Research (http://today.*******.com/stocks/ResearchReports.aspx?symbol=LU.N)) said on Sunday they had entered a definitive agreement to merge and form a new group with revenues of around 21 billion euros ($25.4 billion).
The transaction, which will see Alcatel shareholders have the lion's share of the new company, stands to create a world leader in its sector and comes amid a wave of consolidation in the telecoms industry.
The transatlantic deal had been partly complicated by Alcatel's plans to increase its stake in French defense electronics group Thales (TCFP.PA: Quote (http://today.*******.com/stocks/overview.aspx?symbol=TCFP.PA), Profile (http://today.*******.com/stocks/CompanyProfile.aspx?symbol=TCFP.PA), Research (http://today.*******.com/stocks/ResearchReports.aspx?symbol=TCFP.PA)) -- a politically sensitive issue that has involved the German and French governments.

It actually contradicts the Pepsi - Danone buy-out dispute. Why Chirac now changed his mind??

Alcatel and Lucent said they plan to eliminate about 10 percent of the combined workforce, or 8,800 jobs, to achieve savings of 1.4 billion euros ($1.7 billion)
The new company, whose name hasn't yet been decided on, will be incorporated in France and based in Paris. A separate U.S. subsidiary, with a board of three U.S. citizens, will be created to handle contracts with the U.S. government.
Hmm.. Lucent employees should probably worry a bit. Alcatel probably want the same with Lucent as Ericsson wanted (they bid too) i.e the sales network in the United States.

With deduction skills like that you should become a detective, then you'll definitely get some action. Hell, I bet even Kojack got laid once or twice.

Well spotted, I'd been hoping to disguise it but you caught me out.
Are you really 26 years old?
I'll be twenty-seven in six weeks and I'm still as petty and vindictive as I was when I was eight. My parents are so proud.

I don't like you.

But since you are posting here, you somehow copy like the idea of "posting whore"

But since you are posting here, you somehow copy like the idea of "posting whore"
I won't lie, I'm actually not sure what you mean by that. Are you trying to say I'm a post whore?
Ironic comments...
Again, well spotted.
And you are so dumb as the English "men" that travel to Faliraki and Corfu and do 5hit all the time...
It's possible but I can't actually say for sure having never been to Greece. I'm not really comfortable in hot weather so it's never appealed to me

This has been happening since the 1960's, so where's the illegal? Maybe the Feminists perceive it as "illegal", while I'm 100% sure they hunt for a summer *** experience

True, English people with very white skin tend to have skin cancer bacause of the sun. But I also see another difference: You up there don't have a sense of humour...

bit ironic to see a homo****** (gaz) do the greek....
Question: Why are you posting here with your "contirbution"?
Because it's better than making fun of people on the street, I'm less likely to get punched, plus I find this board offers a greater variety of idiocy than I'd normally find in my town.
True, English people with very white skin tend to have skin cancer bacause of the sun. But I also see another difference: You up there don't have a sense of humour...
You're suggesting that skin cancer causes a failure of the sense of humour? I have little knowledge of medicine but I'm intrigued by your theory and would like to read your study.

So you don't masturbate to computer ****? That's just odd.

I'm not gay but I dearly wish I was. Whenever I go to a gay club I always get more gay men cracking onto me than I get straight girls in a straight club. If I was gay I'd clean up.

No, that you people up there, with the rainfall and the rarely-seen sun you don't have a sense of humour...
