Whats classical?
Some of the metal I listen to is more complicated and pulls off the whole orchestral sound?
For the younger members of the board who like metal but not classical, I'll try to introduce you to it:
Apocalyptica (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000001EMW/102-6765391-8108169?v=glance&n=5174)
Four cellists play Metallica. It's about time some of you started listening to classical, this is a good intro.

lol funny how you assume the 'younger' ones are the ones who don't know what classical music is. :cantbeli:
From my experience, it usually is the younger crowd that doesn't listen to classical. If you did a survery of teenagers today to see what percentage of them listen to classical, I'd be willing to bet Vegas would play the odds that the majority don't listen to classical at all.

I find classical music to have evolved.
Marten Vorlend for example from the heavy metal band Sirenia has produced a classical version of Sixes and Sevens. Which did get great reviews.
Personally the heavy metal bands like Sirenia, Nightwish, Within Temptation ect have more in common with classical music then Iron Maiden.

That's because they are classed as Operatic Metal (or Symphonic Metal) bands
Hey Min, I just listened to Sirenia's song Meridian (live version), and they sounded more like a death metal band, at least to me. Are the majority of their songs like that?

Within Temptation, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Blind Guardian, I know that these bands are symphonic metal bands

Nightwish has more in common with a tub of elephant sh*t than Iron Maiden.
