This was done by a memmber from ar15.com
(AK-Joe)

Right now I'm shooting my Bulgy/OOW AK74K quite a bit and
recently added a PK-01V red dot scope.
For some reason at about 600 rounds my groups
suddenly started to tighten up.
Prior to that I found the 5.45 to be somewhat eratic but I always attributed it to the ammo quality (Wolf) and my poor shootig habits.
I'm still no sharpshooter but I'm really excited about my
group sizes as of late.
I have no idea how to measure them but I thought I
would show you some pics so you could see them.
I put the tape measure in the pics to get a sense of the target/group size.

Three 3 shot groups at 100 yds.
Wolf 60 gr. FMJ, rested on a bench.
PK-01V 1X red dot zeroed at 100yds.

One 19 or 20 shot group fired quickly while bench rested. I thought I loaded 20 but I only count 19 holes.
I'm still making adjustments to the PK-01V but I haven't been able to get any closer to the center of the bullseye than this.

I know these aren't that great but for me this is
pretty damn good.
I'm having a blast with my 5.45 rifles and I have to thank Chris at AK-USA for building such good rifles.

I'm thinking about doing a report with my AKM this weekend. I should ask my friends to come over and bring their SVDs and AK74s as well.

If we do go, I will post photos on Sunday.

Though your test was fairly concise, you should actually try to get your hands on an original SAR2 for trials. These are pure Rom guns, meaning it's what gets used in the field.

I own 2 of them, but have never documented any groups. I do know, however, that I can outshoot an AR15 at 415Y against 2'x4' oxygen cylinders with irons standing up.

I might actually do the same this weekend...and we can compare.

Very good condition are these the same guns that you shot or just the same model?

What groups do you get when benchrest shooting? Preferably in one of those "vice" things that make the rifle solid as a rock.

2 MOA at 100 yards seem reasonable?

I've done better many times (not to brag myself too much)
But i've been shooting AKs since I was 7.

My friend however has a natural Tallent. When he first shot an AK-74, he shot an orange off the sky, and kept shreading it to peaces from 50-70 yards. I've also seen him shoot a Dragunov Sniper Rifle. Boy, you don't want to be in his scope.

IMPRESSIVE!!!

So it's really the shooter not the gun

If you've fired both AK-47 and AK-74, I'm curious as to what you preferred firing.

Oh man,

This question is always been hard to answer.

I own both, and won't give them out EVER.

They are my 2 favorites in collection.

But I must say, an AK-74 feels much better to fire. I'm not a small tiny guy, but it's just feels right. Not that AKM feels bad or uncomfortbale. I personally like the AK-74 4% better than AKM.

If I had to pick a rifle for an operation(even though depending on situation), it would a hard ****in choice. Most likely coin flip would solve it.

But my ultimate favorite, out of all the firearms I've shot ( 172 I once counted) i LOVE PKM !!!

... 172... remember that your own "gun" and "guns" of others do not count. :)

How about the RPK-74? Do you like it?

RPK74 was great

Kind of heavy for it's purpose, and I wish they had drums for it instead of 45rd mags

...and also massively inferior in quality compared to Soviet and other former Com-block '74s.

SARs pure rom guns my ass.

They either come in here with no receiver or they have a thumbstole which is replaced by U.S. parts. probably the former.

I think Century Arms makes the receivers and internal parts.

Pure authentic AKs my ass.

My first rifle I've ever shot was an SAR-1 (Romanian made AK74-pattern) semiautomatic rifle (7.62x39) when I was 10, then AKS (China Made AK47), then of course... the all mightly AR15.

I loved the SAR-1 and still shoot it to this day, it has a great feel to it but the AKS gives you a good punch that wakes you up, specially early in the morning. :D

Around from that, my fav's got to be the M1A, AR15, SAR-1, AKS and L1A1.

Huh? Where do you get that? SARs were imported with receivers AND stocks and had all the imported parts removed BY century for 922r compliance. Century even sells all the take offs in their FFL cataolg. The replace the three FCG parts, gas piston and pistol grip. Where do I get this info? Century themselves, my rep there confirmed it and so have many others.

Anyway, on topic, I like SARs, the are some of the most classic AKM pattern rifles, Romanian has stayed fairly true to the AKM in every detail, I think thats what the original poster meant. It is a true AKM, as opposed to a Chinese Mak-90 or some of the other commercially available ones.

I prefer shooting the AKM, but the AK-74 is nice too. The -74 is more accurate than most AKMs but I do have an AK-103 clone that is built on a SAIGA by Krebs that is the most accurate of them all, 1" groups at 100 yards, from a 14.5" barrel (brake brings it to legal 16").

Pics...

The 103. Yes, I know the accessories in my pics aren't absolutely accurate for the rifle, but its close enough for pretty pics (Russia/Soviet flip flops here) Disclaimer- bayonet not attached, there is no lug per ATF regulations.
