It was dissolved at 25 March 2003, due to connections with assassination of Serbian Prime Minister, Zoran Dijindic and contacts with the Serbian mob. The creator of unit Franko Simatovic was arrested and the ex-chef of the JSO - Milorad Lukovic (aka Legija) was accused of this assassination.

After it was found that some members of JSO(Jedinica za Specijalne Operacije - Special Operations Unit) took part in the planning of and murder of Serbian PM Zoran Djinjdic, the unit was disbanded.

Most of the Red Berets that didn't have anything to do with that, were then transferred to SAJ(Specijalna Anti-teroristicka Jedinica - Special Anti-Terrorist Unit) and JSO's headquarters in Kula are now used for training of female cops.

No, there was nothing like SS at any point in Serbian history.

But the Albanians from Kosovo had an SS Division called Skenderbeg SS Division 1941-1945 (by the way, why do you pose as "Albanians" here in the West when you really call yourselves "shqipetar" and "Shqipnia"??).

And for what it matters to the auditorium here, so did the Croats and bosnian muslims, with their Hantschar SS Division.

Last but not least, members of the German, Croat and some Hungarian minorities from northern Serbia were enlisted in the SS Printz Eugen Division.

Arkan widow arrested over Djindjic assassination

The widow of Serbian warlord Zeljko "Arkan" Raznatovic has been arrested in connection with the assassination of the country's prime minister, Zoran Djindjic, last week.
Svetlana Raznatovic, known as Ceca, was held for sheltering gangsters suspected of carrying out Mr Djindjic's killing.

Police raided the Raznatovic mansion late last night, where they found Dragan Ninkovic and Zoran Vukojevic, two key members of an underworld clan blamed for the assassination.

They also uncovered a huge cache of weapons, including night vision optical equipment, sniper telescopic sights and gun silencers.

In a statement, the government described Mr Ninkovic as the leader of a Serbian drug cartel, and called Mr Vukojevic a former policeman turned criminal. The statement added: "Both suspects attempted to resist arrest, and to escape, but special police teams apprehended them."

The government also said that investigators had found "a quantity of weapons in a specially concealed concrete bunker".

"During Svetlana Raznatovic's arrest, police discovered more than 20 pistols and revolvers, five ammunition crates with 5,000 rounds, machine gun silencers, dozens of truncheons and handcuffs and 86 other items of unlicensed military and police equipment" the statement said.

Arkan, Serbia's most feared warlord, led paramilitary forces blamed for atrocities during the Balkan wars of the 90s. He was indicted by the UN war crimes tribunal in the Netherlands, but was assassinated in 2000, before he could be brought to trial.

His widow is a singer whose popularity has soared since his death. She was named folk singer of the year by a television station the day before Mr Djindic was killed.

Authorities believe that the underworld Zemun Clan, which is named after a Belgrade suburb, was behind the assassination. Its main leaders, Milorad Lukovic, Dusan Spasojevic and Dejan Milenkovic remain at large.

Almost 400 people have been arrested since the declaration of a state of emergency, which enables police to detain suspects, without charges, for 30 days.

Mr Djindjic was the key figure in toppling the former president, Slobodan Milosevic, in a popular uprising in 2000. He engineered Mr Milosevic's handover to UN war crimes court in 2001 which, along with his vow to crack down on organised crime, made him many enemies.

When I was a teenager - in the mid 80s - I used to visit many Eastern European socialist gulags ("countries") with my golden Yugoslav passport, in my Nikes and Levi's and with a bunch of my parents' $100-bills. rofl

Albanian are the majority of population in Kosova!
Albanians has served in SS as other nations but:
1-the first country in Europe to fight against a fascist invasion is Albania, after was atacked by Italy at April 7, 1939. Yougoslavia (the fascist government of Yougoslavia) made contacts with Italian Minister Galeazzo Ciano (see The Diary of Ciano), to divide Albania, your old dream.
2-the only country who was included in WWII and no Jeu was killed or arrested in albania (fons Jad Vashem Museum).
3-The only country in WWII that its capital city was liberated on his own forces with no Allie to combt for us.
4-50 thousand albanian, from 29 November 1944 (day of Liberation) have fought in Yougoslavia against nazis, my granfathers too. One was wonded, one nearly died in Sarajevo from typho.

Last, we are human beeing, albanian and serbs, and teill we kill each other, we will pass in the story as these damned motherfuchers of balcanics.

And one more thing-I read some very interesting article lately-about selling a women for prostitution in western Europe. According to those data-the most girls are being kidnapped and sell to the west from Balkans area. There were some photos taken durong the polce action of capturing the most bad famous women-seller (I don't remeber his name but he was Serbian). So I guess You keep talking completely bull**** in every matter.

It was such a butcher, a fashioned name in serbia.
Was captured by GROM special forces, one of the best in the world.
That in difference with spetatz and so called serbian forces, make real military and onoured operations, and don't sterminate innocent people.

Yeah but we're talkin' bout two different things. The guy captured by GROM was a war criminal (he comitted suicide in prison). I was talking about Serbian police action against women-sellers (it was last year or something). This type of activity (selling women) is a huge problem in Balkans and EU puts a stress on Balkan countries governmetns to prevent and fight it. So from time to time they organise some big action-it was one of those. I don't remeber the guy's name but on the photos he was caught on the roof by the police :D

Beacuse he knows it's a big difference betwen western special forces and orthodox slav so called special forces, that commite in every war theater horrible crimes!
