Is bush really prepared to use nuclear weapons against iran? I am not a fan of that regime, but he can not seriously be considering the nuclear option just for underground bunkers. The worldwide situation is not very good right now, he may be kicking of the real world war 3. The repurcusions from this would be drastic and severe, we have the best military in the world there must be another option. thoughts?

IMHO i think think that the report of the possiblility of nukes being used was just to add fuel to the anti-bush fire

Oh I see, you want them to nuke our soil first, I prefer Bush do it first on Iran's soil for us to protect our homeland.

no i would prefer to keep it conventional, the fallout from one of our nukes would be so sever it would kill millions just from the fall out. im no fan of the iranian tactics, which you would have understood if you could read. but we are talking about taking things to a whole new level.

the effects of fallout are greatly exagerated by the media.

Only the area directly surrounding the blast site would be dangerous, as radiation laden fallout would disapate in a few days, exposing most to little more than a small amount of radiation, or the equivalent of 4-5 x-rays. This data comes directly from a fellow involved in the direct fallout studies currently underway with the US government, specifically the NRC and its work with the intellegence dept (he wouldn't specify with one). I was suprised by this, but he ensures me that fallout is of little risk to those downwind. Those who reside close to the detonation site are in a much different level of danger.

The political fallout would be much greater.

Not so, we're talking about tactical low-yield nukes, not that all-out big bang ones. There'll always be fallout, but I don't think it'll kill millions.

Havent you heard some news that comes from inside Iran? They have sleath technology for units, missiles and bs to invisible to radar. It sounds like Iran can send a submarine and launch a nuke at NYC from within 1 mile away.

Or they can install Shahab-4 in the submarine and launch it on DC from 200 miles away somewhere in North Altantic Ocean with nuclear warhead installed.

There's a fairly similar thread already for this topic:

Im sorry but I dont think Iran could launch a F'in potato at us from 20 feet away from the shore....I live on the east coast on NJ, and am not ine the elast worries about them. They are only spewing BS like this as they are scared of our country and what we can do to them.....to bad there are not scary in the least....:)

They are just pulling Kim style "scare" tactics, to remind us that they exist. What I meant to say was "laugh" tactics...eerr.
Anyways, I'm afraid if they keep it up, they will find that it'll bring an unfunny response from USA - regardless of it conventionality.
But then again...Herr Hitler ( I meant to say bush), really needs to put his damn six-shooter away, and stop invading countries like Herr Hitler, and figure out that cowboys don't really come from Texas -- Somehow I recall the town "Too tough to die" being in Arizona, but for some reason, I don't think he'd understand.

Scariest thought...I voted for him.

It would be bad judgement if Bush used nukes first (even tatical or low yield). The US and the world is claiming that Iran is trying to build nukes and that they should give up their program because it is wrong and can cause trouble. Then we turn around and use nukes. That would look great, then the whole world can ask us to hand over our nukes because we are not responsible anymore.
