You're going to hear some toe-tapping music. Walk The Line was my 2nd favorite movie from last year. You'll love it, but if I were you I'd hold off on seeing it for a couple days and share the experience with WB. Movies are always better that way.

I really, really enjoyed it. I dare anyone to watch that movie and not go home and download/buy some of their music.

I know I was walking around singing Get Rhythm for at least a month after I saw it. Good stuff.

Agreed, one of the Man's best songs...the movie has great music, and they do a good job of recreating the sound of Johnny Cash and June Carter.

I haven't seen it myself, and I've heard that it's a good movie, but I've also heard that it follows nearly the same exact format as Ray when it comes to the events that happen in the movie (i.e. growth toward success, drug addiction, relationship problems, etc.). Again, though, that isn't my personal observation but what I've heard from more than one person.

What was your favorite?

I saw about half of Walk the Line on a flight to Oregon before I passed out. I loved what I saw - it was hard to believe the actors were doing the singing themselves. And I went into the movie thinking that Joaquin Phoenix didn't look a thing like Johnny Cash, but within a couple of minutes of the start of the movie he was Johnny Cash. Really amazing. Gotta watch the rest of it...

Munich was my favorite film from last year and Ria can kiss my ass for not liking that movie.

Yes, yes, yes. Clete is 100% right. Wait for WB!!

The movie is absolutely wonderful, definitely one of my favorites. I can't explain how much more meaningful it is that the actors sang instead of just a voiceover. It's so much more powerful.

I liked Ray but Walk the Line isn't so glitzy. But yes, Rat is right about the formats, although that doesn't take away from anything. It's hard not to format it that way, especially when such similar events have happened in these two peoples' lives. And Ray isn't all that original in its format either. Both movies are fine like that.

I've also heard other people say that it's a love story above all else. Which I agree with, but June was his life and soul, and you get who Johnny was, not just how many awards he's won.

Clete: I guess I'll have to kiss your ass cause Munich sucked mine. :|
Ok Munich wasn't terrible but it didn't move me. I did like the scene when they were going to bomb the apartment though. Most suspenseful part of the whole thing.

Just watched it on the ferry last week...solid movie.

I thought Jaquim(sic) Phoenix was very good in it...and probably more oscar worthy than Reese Witherspoon.....but who cares...Reese Witherspoon looked shagtastic.

Johnny Cash's cover of NIN's "Hurt" just before he took the big dirt nap got me listening to his stuff......pretty talented guy and a good story to tell.

"It ain't you babe,no no no no....."
I really liked the movie a lot.
I was kind of raised on country music:oops:
My dad's a real C&W fan,so he had the"Live at Folsom Prison" record too.
We played it until it turned grey. I even had the luck to see him perform live in Rotterdam when i was about 12 years old.

Heres the deal. I HATE country music and I think that Reese W is a complete chop. The last movie I ever wanted to see was 'walk the line' but out of boredom and the fact that the other movies showing were of some alien invasion of some arb planet I went to go and see it.

Well blow me did I enjoy it. Rees and J blew me away with their acting and singing. I loved the movie so much I even bought the soundtrack CD in the mall directly after the show.

Can anyone confirm whether it's actually Jaquim and Reese singing in the movie.

If so, I'd give them both a double thumbs up.

I'm just wondering if "I did all the singing" equals "I did all my own stunts even though no insurance company in the world would ever allow that to happen."

On an obscurely related note, I just found out that the warden of Fulsom prison during Johnny Cash's concert there was my wife's uncle.

I can't believe that we haven't heard one peep from Farmgirl about the movie. I've got a sneaking suspicion that she didn't enjoy it as much as the rest of us did.

I loved it. I'd watch it again, and there aren't too many movies that I would watch more than once.

edit: I plan to buy the soundtrack tomorrow (when I go pick WB up at the airport woot woot)

No, that movie sucked. It jumped around way too much, spent very little time on constructive character building, and was just overall very boring to watch. The acting was good, though.

If you don't renounce your unrequited love for Reese Witherspoon I'll ban you to the nether-regions.

She's mine if both of us ever get divorced.
