Hello everyone (especially firearms enthusiasts). I want to tell you about a petition I stumbled across at http://www.battlerifles.com./ This is a petition that seems like a good thing. Here is the first paragraph that pretty much explains it all:

"There is a strong demand for a M14 DCM program, which will curb Government waste by providing up to $300-600 Million DEFICIT REDUCTION. With uncertainty of the price tag of the current war, this will help pay for freedoms we enjoy in this country."

As of 4:46 P.M. Pacific time May 14, 2003, they have 6506 signatures. I am under the assumption that they are trying to get 10,000 signatures. To view the current number of signatures, please click here: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?M14CMP03

More information can be obtained here: http://www.petitiononline.com/M14CMP03/petition.html

To sign the petition without reading the information, click here: http://www.petitiononline.com/M14CMP03/petition-sign.html

Eligible signatories include U.S. taxpayers, voters, and firearm enthusiasts.

Please sign this petition! Tell as many people as you can about it! :) Thanks for your time!

Do online petitions actually do anything?

Sir, I don't know, let's get 10,000 signatures or more and find out! ;) :D I'm sure it will, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

Alot stuff like this on the net is just used to get email lists for spammers. The petition site is all the more suspect since all it is is a site to host petitions.

Well sir, my father and I both signed the petition on Monday, and neither one of us has gotten any spam mail. We got a "confirmation" letter but it was by no means, spam.
