Former careers you had before your current one and were you sad or glad that you gave them up.
I tried my hand farming before fishing, glad I gave it up, the sheep and I did not get on as well as I had hoped.

Loan Officer at a bank. One word to describe it: SUX!

I got so tired of Muzak and meetings where we talked about savings accounts that I could have puked, in fact I did puke!

babysitter (yeah.... going waaaaay back for that one)
lifeguard
teacher of swimming lessons
waitress
Assistant Manager Pizza Hut
Men's residence hall director at a college
Intramural director (same college)
data entry for a sporting goods company
distribution manager for the Kansas City Star (in Pittsburg, Ks)
sales (furniture, electronics and appliances)
teacher
grant coordinator

yeah.... I've had a few jobs.... I loved lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons... that was my first clue that teaching might be for me. I talked myself out of it, because I thought I wanted to make more money than that..... silly me! :)

I loved my sales job, not because I liked sales that much, but because John was my store manager, and I got to work with him every day. I was good at it, and I made really good money, so that helped too. :)
I made a lot of money in sales. The last year I sold furniture, I didn't even work the entire year, and I made nearly 3 times what I'll make teaching this year. However, I wouldn't go back. I love teaching. It's not going to make a difference to anyone what kind of a sofa I sold them, but if I can make a difference in some kids' lives.... that means everything to me.

*wipes away tear* ;) Seriously... I do think what I am doing is really important, and I love going to work every single day. Who could ask for more than that???? woot

During the summers, helped out parents on the shrimpboats. (Not bad money for a kid at age 12)

During High School, worked at my brothers 3 convienent stores. (Hard work and bad pay due to family status)

First job outside family businesses was during college as a waiter at the Mariott's Fairfield Inn Restaurants. Got fired working at Bennigans for telling a church group to F*ck off!

During Art School, got a job as a layout artist for a sign company then got offered as a typesetter at a small print shop.

Got hired after graduation at an ad agency. After a few years, worked as interface designer (My first big project where I got to take lead: designed the Conoco website ) for an internet company.

Takes three years off from work to travel.

Jumps back into work with a gig at HP as an art director. Got tired of the "one brand" scene and gets hired as a senior art director at a small agency.

Freelances (occasionally when I'm in the mood) to do storyboards for TV ads and did I mentioned I used to run guns up to NY state for the Tongs? ;)
