I read recently that SEALs have reorganized their area of operations from each Team being assigned a different AO(SEAL Team 4 - Central and South America) to different platoons from each Team being assigned adifferent AO (Alpha Platoon of SEAL Team 1 - Middle East, Bravo Platoon SEAL Tean 1 - Europe). The old wat seemed like a pretty good idea to me, but obviusly they had a reason. Does anyone have any ideas on what that reason might be?

I got a question:
Why does your username suck?
How old are you?

Seventeen. Why do you think that it sucks? I happen to have great admiration for the SEALs and what they do for our country.

You may have admiration (and so do I), but you have no creativity. Is there supposed to be a 1-800 in front of that or something?

In early 2002, two new SEAL teams were brought on line under the NSW21 initiative. Each NSW Group now has four SEAL teams. On the west coast(1, 3, 5, 7) and on the east coast(2, 4, 8, 10). There is no increase in manning, the existing SEAL teams simply were reduced in size from eight platoons for six teams to six platoons for eight teams. Each team's logistics, training, and various support elements have been removed from each individual SEAL team and placed into the respective NSW Group on each coast. Instead of each SEAL team deploying platoons with a rotating deployment with the team, each team will now deploy in a rotation within their group. The teams will spend eighteen months in a workup which includes six months of individual training, six months of platoon/team training, and six months of squadron training with an SDV task unit, special boat unit detachment, and various support units. At the end of those eighteen months, the entire task force(or as they are calling it 'squadron') will deploy for six months. This will happen on each coast so at any given time, twelve SEAL platoons will be deployed. Each team will have a couple of platoons focus on each AOR, but if a large incident were to arise, the platoons could come back together under the command of the team head shed which will deploy with the team.

Yikes Eagle, All he's saying is that he likes SEALs. There is also no rule that says you have to use a creative name.
