I don't think that Ukraine is ever going to join Russia again.
Although a lot of people there wouldn't mind.
There are two distinct parts in Ukraine: Eastern and Western, their mentality and language differ also. Eastern is pro-Russian, Western - extremelly nationalistic.
Ukraine and Russia will always be friends and related in various ways: economically, scientifically, culturally, etc..
But at this point Ukraine has nothing to offer to Russia and Russia doesn't need anymore dead weight on its economy.

Ok its like this:
Eastern Ukraine(where I am from) is not too nationalistic, doesnt mind russian or western influence.
Western Ukraine's mentality is something like that of Confederate South's :P

Ok, but its Lvov! (in russian anyway)
And once they separated, they made us (students) learn Ukranian which was so annnoying to learn that I decided to flee to America
On a serious note, I really dont see a reason why Ukraine separated. We have pretty much identical culture, everyone in Ukraine had russian as their first language, etc.

Have they been issued 5.56mm rifles for Iraq (Beryl for example), or do they still keep AK 74's?

Marmot please learn the facts first. Maybe so during Stalins times, but my mom and and my grandma learned it in school starting with 2nd grade. Its just htat other subjects were in russian. And considering the amount of ethnic russians in Ukraine everyone talked russian, besides Western Ukraine and some villages. No one was FORBIDDEN from speaking or learning it.
ONce they separated however, it was mandatory for everything to be in Ukranian which was a pain in the ass for the majority of the population.
