Athens officially asked a few hours ago the NATO Council to provide air and naval cover for this summer's Olympic Games.
I have also read the will put a team of armed officers in every bus that will transport the athletes to their respective stadium.
" Under siege ". Welcome to the Olympics.
Did we make progress since the Western world lost his innocence in 1972 ?
Are we supposed to win the war over terror ?
They already won :(
supposedly we are still at war with the terrorists and you'd expect nothing more at an event like the olympics during wartime.
Munich? Hello?
To say the terrorist have won because there is more security is like saying because most homeowners lock their doors at night while they sleep or have a security alarm, that "the criminals have already won."
The terrorists haven't won. And they won't win.

The terrorists haven't won. And they won't win. "The only thing we fear is a fear itself"... This phrase may have more meaning today than ever... their goal is to make us say that we have lost. They can not kill us all, they victory will be only when we say that we are defeated... by fear they spread. Keep Your head up Uncle Cho p-) .

Perhaps they should have asked for help in getting the stadiums completed in time!
they only just had elections, which is why the stadums hadn't been finished yet.

Since when does security mean fear? :|
If that is the case, then all national defense organizations of the world should be disbanded, because, hell, it means that the enemy has already won, because they want us to fear.
That is simply a logical fallicy.
Okay, boys, let's say that this is a supposed sign of "the terrorists winning already." Fine then, don't secure the Olympics. What will you be saying after a terrorist slips right into the Olympics? You're gonna have a hell of a fearful population. So much for bloody fearlessness.
So, in other words, you guys seem to believe that fearlessness is synonymous with stupidity. There is a difference between being overcome with fear of the enemy and making sure the enemy fears you.

Why would elections have an effect on construction?

Did I speak of fear in my original posting ??

When I say the terrorists won is because as soon as you stop acting a normal way as we did until the late 60s in Europe (or before the 9/11 in the USA) and start to set up extra security measures, to spend extra money in our respective Homeland Security Programs, to slow the world trade etc, they reached their goal.
Yesterday the NY Stock Exchange suddenly collapsed (for a short period of time) when the Al Quaeda name surfaced... Consider the cost/efficiency ratio. We used multi millions dollars of military hardware to bomb a few huts in Afghanistan, Sudan or Iraq but the death of a few*innocent peoples with 1,000 lbs of stolen dynamite or even to ****ounce the name of a terror group will impact the world economy for months if not years (see the US airlines companies)...
Will we prevail ? I hope so but this won't be easy, it might take years ans years and we will have more casualties...
BTW, fear does not mean cowardliness. Everybody knows in the risky businesses (those in the military or pilots for example) that a man without fear is a dead man. Soon or later.
*on a world scale

What is the point if Al Qaeda demolishes them? Anyway it has become almost inevitable that something will happen in the Olympics or something hopefully will be prevented. It is a very big juicy target and symbolic as Islamics love symbolic attacks.
The worst part is that I am working in the stadium during the games. I will keep my eyes peeled all the time!

Who says that security infrastructure should be disbanded? :|
