Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter demo is released. I can't believe noone made thread yet.

Grab it here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_13468.shtml

I already tired it. Runs like crap on my AMD4000, 7800GT, 2GB Ram. Other than that it looks good, and sounds are great.

According to Ebgames

Operating System: Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Processor: Pentium II 450 MHz processor
RAM: 128 MB of RAM
Video Card: 16 MB VRAM 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 8.0
Hard Drive: 2 GB hard drive space
CD-ROM: DVD ROM
Processor: Internet/network with TCP/IP connection at 28.8 kbit/s

That sounds like less than it took to run Operation Flashpoint (the original)!!!

Yea right.... I can't even run the game full screen with 1024x resolution without noticing system lag on medium setting. I got a AMD64 3200 with 6600GT. The real requirements...

Minimum specs required to run:

* 2 GHz Pentium® IV or the equivalent
* 1Gb RAM
* 5 GB of hard drive space
* NVIDIA® GeForce™ 6/7 or ATI® Radeon® 9600-9800/X

Make sure you update your video card drivers. I was using outdated ones when I first tried, and couldn't really get above ~20fps, even with every single setting turned down. Updated to the most recent Nvidia drivers and it runs almost beautifully now.

I have

AMD 2200
1.5gb ram
Nvidia 6800 GSoc
( I think a minimum of 1gb ram as a minimum is wacked lol even Oblivion only really required 512 )
what do you think should i try?

I didnt say those minmum requirements were realistic, I simply copied and pasted from EBgames.com. I pretty much figured it wouldnt run on those specs but if they say so...

I have full verison of this crap it gives Ghost Recon games a bad name .It's not that bad, but they should have kept in the ability to control three teams and scrapped the red diamonds over enemies.

Are you talking about the XBOX version? Cause that's a whole other game compared to the PC version.

I was slightly dissapointed... it all felt too scripted and with too little freedom. And it just sucked donkey balls that you could only play as your own teamcommander and not as the teammates. Or as different teams. :( And the whole environment wasn't exactely 'shocking' either.

I really enjoyed it. Certainly not as good as OFP/Armed Assault (which I've had the pleasure of playing), but it's a damn sight better than most other FPS/wargames on the market at the moment.

I'm waiting more for the multiplayer aspect of GRAW as it sounds like it's gonna be great. GRIN (the Devs) have said they will support this game post release, and will be adding new stuff down the track. Also the mods should be awesome :D

Looking forward to trying the full thing. Can't wait.

Ran extremely well on my new rig:

AMD Athlon X2 4600 (Dual Core)
2Gb Corsair TWINX-3200C2
Radeon X1900XTX 512Mb

Can run with everything set on high at 1280x1024....haven't tried 1600x1200 yet, either way, it looks fantastic.

AI can be a bit frustrating at times. I ordered my SAW gunner to move up to the corner of a building. Instead he walked past the corner and into the line of fire of a .50..and was shot to pieces in seconds. Other than that, and the fact that the team doesn't really stay close to you when you move, or their placing when you tell them to move to a point is fvcked, I really like it and plan on getting the full thing.

Co-op and the other MP type should be heaps of fun !!

Was able to dload it and play it yesterday. Since I have good hardware, was able to put everything on max and running smooth.
But, I don't like it at all, sorry. Maybe I'm too old and maybe my only type of military games are OFP related. Actually, definitely so.

Solo you're getting too old. There I said it. p-)

I like it (PC version), but I'd liked to have seen the return of an international armed forces element that the original had.

I agree with the criticism here that there isn't enough flexibility throughout the game. Particularly in weapon-choice, command and control features and that feeling your being guided down a linear path. Plus why are the doors still not useable? Xbox hangover on the last point I think.

Cityscape was very tasty though, fine work there.

What's the ETA on Armed Assault now? This summer?

Ridiculous system demands, squad AI is generally retarded and behaves erratic, the point-and-click command interface is cumbersome compared to Brothers in arms or FSW.

I probably had too high hopes for GRAW. Haven't been able to try out multiplayer yet but the SP part was just "ok-ish" but could've easily been much better...:|

1024x768 with pretty much everything in minimal, and still practically impossible to play. Well, I guess it's time to buy a new computer finally, this AXP 3000+/1GB/GF6600GT has served quite a long time allready. Most of the machine is from 2002, so it's actually surprising that it has been kicking so well this far.

i really love the effetcs of bullets hitting walls and stuff, which makes a cool dust cloud you know, also grenade explosions are pretty neat...although i expierenced lag while playing on medium settings :( quess my pc is getting old...damn need more RAM

"Get back in the war, Mitchell!"

I try and go ONE block over to set up an L on eight or ten guys in a market area with reinforced positions and an armored truck, and they say i'm going AWOL. What a bunch of ****. They are taking the tactics out of the tactical shooter.

Ridiculous system demands, squad AI is generally retarded and behaves erratic, the point-and-click command interface is cumbersome compared to Brothers in arms or FSW.My suggestion is that you forget about the point-and-click interface (except in situations where you need to quickly move someone out of danger), and use the tacmap exclusively. More specifically, always move your teammates ahead of you, using the COVER command (not MOVE) to both place them properly and set their field of fire, bounding/leapfrogging them as you move ahead. The downside of this is that it's much slower, but you'll find that when you do it like this, they'll be much better at finding and using cover, as well as identifying and killing bad guys, especially if you set your fields of fire effectively.

It's really not all too different from moving individual teams via the tacmap in the original Ghost Recon, except that you can't take direct control of them.

The tacmap is better but it has its flaws as well. Sometimes when I press execute after giving a "move" order the squadmember reports he has completed the order but has not moved at all. Squad AI pathfinding seem to be a bit underdeveloped. They tend to gang up as well, hindering the movement of each other in tight spaces.

The point-and-click interface sometimes give the result that the squadmember places himself in front of the cover rather than behind it, which I think is the result of pointing at/too close to the cover, something that could've been easily solved by placing a marker on the ground like in FSW or BiA, so you instantly know where yout squadmember will go after you give the order.

I do however like the general gameplay, dashing to spot A, taking cover, scanning for the next spot that will give the best cover and best firing lanes, getting up and rush over to that spot, rather than the usual run-and-gun like Call of Duty and the likes. In that aspect it feels true to the old Ghost recon. I miss having multiple squads, though...
