Can a 1911 pierce body armor?
Links to info about this would be hip as well.

Thanks in advance and sorry for the ignorance.

Can a 1911 pierce body armor?Do a google search on body armor - there's not just one type of body armor and some are better than others.

But, a 9mm +P+ round will usually penetrate body armor better than a .45 slug. Wouldn't want to get with either.

.45 is not a piercing round.

THink of it as a fist, not an ice pick

You're not planning to shoot any cops, are you?

I was about to suggest a really good round for penetration, but your question is a good one.

OK

If this guy wants penetration, then get the 7.62x25mm Tokorev pistol. A good weapon, better than the 9mm Makorov that replaced it.

Another option would be a long barreled .357 magnum revolver with the heavy Keith loads.

If your going with the 7.62x25mm chambering, then the CZ-52 pistol is better than the Tokorev pistol.

Here is a website with more information on the Ceskoslovenska Zborjovka Vzor 52 pistol, more commonly known as the CZ-52.

the 1911 will not be piercing any body armor since it is, in fact, a pistol.

now, the .45acp round fired by the 1911 is another story. given that you are using ball ammunition the .45acp does not do very well against body armor of any type.

I remembert that I have read somewhere that Tokariev 7.62 pistol is able to penetrate some older and lighter vests even when fired with blank cartridge but must be fired at point blank range.. it was not some tenager magazine but some serious magazine about guns they tested also 9mm-para (in walter PP), 9mm Makarov(In makarov pistol) , 7.62 tokariev (in TT) and only TT was able to penetrate and rip west with gases from blank cartridge. There were also photos from the test... I was amazed about that...

BTW. When I was last time in CLK(Centralne Laboratorium Kryminalistyczne) - Central Criminalistic Laboratory of Polish Police one of the guys that work there told me that when you fire a .38 revolver at point blank range with blank cartridge at back of the head pressure of gases is so enormous that it breaks your skull and kills victim... he said that they had a case when some hitman used .38 at point blank in couple of cases and it was hard to find at the beginig what kind of gun he used since there was no bullet , no bullet hole and no spent cartridge...
