i was just wondering if anyone knowes about when special operation forces started painting their rifles. just wondering thanks for the info

Late 80's, mostly. Some even before. On the gulf war we first saw photos of SAS and american SF units with desert camo on near-every man basis.

A complete camouflaged painted M1908 which was donated by Gen Robert M. Gaynor, USAR (Ret). Captured by Pennsylvania National Guardsmen of the 28th Division in the Argonne Forest during World War I.
