Cinco de Mayo is recognised as the first Mexican American holiday since many Mexican Americans from Texas and California took part in the battle, specially the mexican forces leader general Ignacio Zaragoza who was a Mexican american from Texas. the center of Cinco de Mayo celebrations is in San Antonio Texas.

Here in Texas it might as well be a Federal holiday. Dont care if your white, black,brown, purple.....come friday night everyone celebrates it with some ice cold modelo, tecate, Dos Equis etc

In California everyone gets the day off from school. I get Spanish class off, but I still have two math classes and a Midterm, so I can't start drinking till.... 3pm.

Oh yea, that's the other thing that's cool about college; it doesn't matter what the holiday means, if it's a chance to drink to a theme, it's all good.
