Soviet graves wrecked in Germany
The gravestones of 187 Soviet soldiers have been vandalised in the east German city of Leipzig, officials say.
They were "either knocked over or pulled completely out of the ground", the German foreign ministry said.
The ministry condemned the "appalling act", adding that it remained committed to caring for the graves of Soviet soldiers who died in Germany in WWII.
The graves at the city's Soviet military memorial would be restored as soon as possible, the ministry added.

The guys who vandalised the grave yard hardly have a clue about any historic facts.

For me "Leipzig" (>east germany) rings a bell. Uneducated, unemployed, completely Neo Nazi kids having too much time. Sad enough that i think of whole east germany like that, but there's some truth in it.

You got that wrong, they are completely westernizesd. And not over night. The wall came down 17 years ago and most eastern kids don't know how it was to live there at that time. The problem is that there is a much stronger movement of Neo Nazism in their youth culture. I cannot really explain that "just" because of unemployment, which is much higher there then here. It has to do with a missing self confidence or a lack of education.

wrecking graves etc is no good at all. but that topic also reminds me of how there are hardly ANY memorials of germanys own deads. the ones you find come with museums who tell the story of bad+evil+massmurdering-wehrmacht and such things. theres no place where people can just remember their long dead soldiers without any of this political stuff. that said, im hopeful that in mid future, such neutral memorials will be established, because the cause is a good one and the still living ideologists will die sooner or later and leave place for more rational people. the Völkerschlachtdenkmal is the worlds most fanscinating and rational memorial i can think of. it honors all the deads of a long gone war equally, no partial victimization, no winner, no loser, all deads are the same.

Sologubovka lies about 45 miles northeast of Russia's second city St Petersburg, the former Leningrad, which withstood a 900-day siege by German forces during World War Two.

German goverment needs to maintain graves of German soldiers - it's a Christian thing to do.

OK, ok i admit my post was a bit unfair to east germans in general. But still i can only imagine some little Neo Nazi retards commiting such acts. Who else? Seriously. That has nothing to do with the existence of german memorials. They vandalised russian graveyards and there is no excuse! Those people have no clue about history anyway.
