Yeah I saw that in the the pictures from yesterday. I thought that they might be contractors as there is one soldier running around with what appears to be a MICH helmet...

Some of them are wearing the new desert combat vests, but I'm not sure about the MOLLE stuff, looks interesting.

Some new undies for a start ;)

There was a a page about the new kit in Soldier (British Army magazine), if no-one answers the question by the time I find it I'll post it up. Can't remember the details off hand except the undies!

Its called the Mk6A or something, I can't remember, its basically still a Mk6, with some "improvements" that I can't remember off the top of my head, although I think it has a better ballistics rating.

Most of the improvements can't really be seen in the new helmet. According to Soldier magazine the Mk6a helmet is now made of a mixture of nylon and Kevlar (the old one was just nylon) leading to an improvement to the ballistic protection without any gain in weight. It also has improved padding to for a more comfortable fit.

Most of the new kit can is outlined in this press release(you may need Word to view it):

It all looks very promising, I just hope it gets to everyone who needs it and that there isn't delay in issuing it to everyone.
