'Bug out bag'? You talking about a ready-kit for emergencies?

Yup.

Mine is my ruck with some water, a few cans of salmon, some 12ga ammo, shelter (poncho, stakes, bunjee cords), poncho liner, 100mph tape, 550 cord, a signal panel, and a few other things like some batteries. I grab that and my 12ga and I'm set, sorta.

It's used as a quick fix for bullet holes in aircraft, made to withstand wind in the hundreds of miles per hour area. But it's a valued tape everywhere, and not just the aviation areas use it.

I believe 100mph tape is also known as duct tape. I would like to see anyones larger kits. Someone had some type of watertight locker to throw in a vehicle. I plan on building something like that but including a pack inside with the essentials should vehicle travel not be an option. Also is this kit for you and if not who else is going to survive off it? I'm trying to explain to my wife that "female products" aren't needed for survival. She's not totally convinced. Could someone recommend a good portable water filter and a source of good camping or hiking food? I don't want to use MRE's. Something freeze dried perhaps. I was planning on stocking some various canned fish and other indefinite packed type things, but also some lighter more portable stuff. Cheers.

Lots of signal group however wouldnt you throw in a backup fixed blade and folder?

Well, that daimondback bag looks decent!

I almost always have my BHI 3-day pack with me when i leave town, I consider it a bit my go-bag, in it is the following:

- 1st aid kit
- camelbag bladder
- Duct tape
- sewing material
- most of the time an MRE
- spare batt. for surefire, camera,...
- camera
- notebook
- small bino's
- wiley's

That's about it, it changes offcourse, depending on where I go.

I don't have a BOB yet...unless you count the case.

I do have a Dana 5000 cu inch bag though and the finacee has an old aluminum frame 3500 in bag.

If we can motor out though, the survival case can be easily moved by two people.

Then its 2 rifles, 1 pistol, a shot gun, ammo for all four and 2 pounds of black powder. p-)

The Leatherman is an old one (pre-locking blades) but f.ing sharp - but it was free. For some reason I aquire them so I carry 4 - one in my vest/chest rig, one in my Crash Bag, a micro in my ID wallet and one of the old tiny folding ones in my RCK.

Swiss tools are expensive. Pusser gives me Leathermans.

Never used one myself but I have heard good thngs about them. Should do just fine. And a suggestion, I would add a water bottle to your bag list, Water bladder alone may not be the best way to go.

Yes I have lots of water bottles. The bladder is so I can purify lots of water when I'm in a camp setting.

Second the cans of salmon fish bit but ive discovered those little plastic/mylar bags of tuna fish that the commissary carries. you can double your food load without taking up the space and weight that half as many cans do.

When home country. Mind all you tin foil hat/ astro-geeks. An older rebuilt Honda Moto(enduro) with a rear rig designed to fit 2 five gallons (1 gas/1 water), front end tray to hold rucksack/chest rig (no body armor). M4/1911 in holster. Sorry but no rear facing rocket launchers and twin uzi mounts.:)

I carry both when I train. The bags are a supplement, NOT a replacement for the cans. Cans in ruck for meals, and I eat the packs while moving. Sometimes I put the packets in shoulder or pants BDU pockets.

Another benefit of canned salmon is that it has more liquid in the can than what you find in a packet. Bigger meal, more meat, yadda yadda yadda....

Why do you need gold?

Well in case the government folds (NOT POSSIBLE! Oh wait...), gold will most likely still be a form of currency while US Dollars may be worthless.

Also if you end up in foreign land....
