My family has come to know a few missionaries down in Brazil, the other day one of them was randomly shot in the head. He is still alive, but in critical condition. Please if you could, find some way to remember him, and hope that he heals from his wounds.
Thank you Fintin

Hey howdy hey!
I just read your post over on GreenLeaders site...
Prayers are on the way for the Missionary, His family, and the people who did this.
Isnt it something to have news that is so Good that you are willing to go and expose your life to peril just to share that news with others...
Jesus is the only answer...

Are you guys making fun of other people's religious beliefs?
Because if you are, stern warnings have been issued about this kind of behavior in the forums.
There was no call for you to even post anything if you weren't even concerned with the thread topic. Please knock it off.

Innoxx, that wasn't even remotely funny. If you have any decency in you delete that post ASAP.
Fintin, I hope your friend pulls through and recover.

Just a little advice. Although a very recently admitted Christian, comments like Innoxx's don't bother me. I am very secure in my faith. If Innoxx gains some sort of personal gratification in his ignorant comment... let it go. I tend to ignor my children when they are acting out to get attention. They lose interest usually. Innoxx probably got the reaction he wanted by saying something stupid. Someone paid attention to him.
That should be more than enough discussion on it.
I will pray for the missionary. I hope he pulls through. If he does not, he will be in good hands. Helping those in need in God's name is the ultimate service. It needs no thanks, and asks for none. We should all aspire to devote atleast some part of our lives to helping those who need it.

It is very tragic when any innocent person had his or her life ruined in such a way. I hope he pulls through okay.
I was wrong to say that. However, I think Fishy's rhetoric about "Jesus is the only answer" comment is just as terrible than mine. I have no problems with people in a religion. Hey, it's their life. I just don't like it when these religious zealots try to cram their beliefs down my throat. It absolutely burns my ass.
Being a hedonist at heart, I threw my rhetoric back at him. I'm sorry for that.
I know a lot of Christians will probably hate me after that post; that's okay though. Afterall, that is what you guys are good at; or so it seems.

Innoxx, you couldn't be more off the mark.
1. Fisheye wasn't cramming anything down yours or anyone elses throat. Prayer was requested, he said he would, and that he was happy to do so.
2. You chose to read the thread. after reading the thread that was not designed in any way to change your mind or accuse you of any misdeed, you chose to reply with a snide remark as if you had been attacked.
3. I do not hate you. Period. 'Afterall, that is what we're good at'? Christians are taught to forgive, not hate. Period. Anyone claiming to be a Christian who does otherwise is not really setting a good example of Christianity.
Peace.

Good point Trigger.
It's like being pissed off because you happened to interrupt a group of people praying. If you don't want it... move on. You were welcome to come over but no one chased after you.
Just proves my point. If you're confident or comfortable in your faith.. it doesn't really matter what others do. I said before that I am recently a practicing Christian. I used to not be of any faith. I had a religion stamped on my dog tags.. but generally avoided any thing that resembled religion. I still do. I do however have a faith now. Before, I used to get all worked up and pissed when someone would try and bring religion to me... or speak of it. I could figure out why it bothered me but I would get all worked up anyway. It was insecurity. Now .. even when the Jehovas' Witnesses came to my door during Thanksgiving and interrupted my family get together, I invited them in. I said I wasn't interested in their brochures or church.. but they were welcome to share a holiday with me and my family. They declined and were a little bit insulted since they don't believe in the holiday. They still wanted to sell me a pamphlet though. Or in their words, "leave me with the word of God for a small donation." I said I could not donate but would love the word of God. They left of their own accord.. all the while I was asking them why they felt that only people willing to pay money were deserving the word of God. "Thanks for the offer ladies but I don't need a pamphlet of the word of God...I have the full version already."
My point is that even though someone showed up in my home and tried to discredit my faith in front of my loved ones on a holiday.. I didn't insult their religion. At best was a cynical and short with them for their poor timing and judgement.
Some people are just insecure and irritated by their own lack of faith.. despite religion.

To each his own, I guess.
War, you're making a deal deal about this all.
I was born, baptized and raised Roman Catholic. Warpig, if those Jehova's knocked on my door, I would've pretended to not be home. Is it because I'm ignorant, insecure or lack faith? No, because I really don't appreciate them trying to spoon-feed me their religion. As you did, I just upped the ante a bit.
Before you "dog" me and my beliefs (or lack therof), you gotta know where I come from. You see, my mother had Type II Diabetes. One day, she decided to join this religion (I will with-hold the name because I'm that respectful). They were into faith healing, but they did worship the holy trinity and they did have their own version of the Bible. She traveled halfway around the world to The Philippines to meet a so-called "prophet" to get cured from diabetes. So she went get healed; the "phophet" tapped her on the head and told her she was cured. So she stopped taking her diabetes.
About a year and a half later, out of the blue, she decided to take a blood sugar test. Her blood sugar was so high that the machine didn't even have any numbers, so I'm guessing her glucose level was in the upper 40's (normal blood glucose level shouldn't exceed 10). Having told the doctor this, she was immediately admitted into the hospital. Slowly but surely, she made a steady recovery. Being one year without insulin gave her permanent nerve damage, she has lost all feeling in her fingers and feet. Her kidneys were on the verge of failing, and she was pretty much bed-ridden.
I kept asking myself how and why someone would unquestionably follow religion in such a manner. I still don't know why, and I doubt I ever will. I admire you though Warpig, I can tell you keep an eye out for these things.
So that's basically why I am so begrudging towards organized religion. I again apologize if I have offended anybody. I also think it is time for me to stop replying to this thread since it is getting derailed. If you feel you have to tell me something, just PM me about it.

Look.. I didn't intend to insult you my friend. I can see it came out that way. I can see where you come from.. but just look over what you just wrote. You are talking about religion. Faith is the act of using your mind and heart to find your way. Believing in a religion can help or hurt you... having faith is a bit harder to accomplish or explain. For years.. I believed in God.. but hated all religion. I was cynical not only outloud but in my own mind. I could not see why people would show such weakness as to blindly believe in religion. I have come to my own faith in God. I don't accept what others tell me of him.. I look for what is in my heart to show me. It is a hard thing to come to. It will get harder. I am 32.
My point was that when you strike out at another faith.. or strike out against religion or the lack of religion.. you do so becuase you are insecure in what you believe. Those of real faith are not easily offended.. nor quick to offend.
I don't like a great deal of religions.. but I won't attack them. I may argue on the way it effects people or how it fits into culture.. but that is when an opinion is warranted. Christianity is the religion that other people call my faith. My faith most closely resembles what other people call the Christian religion.
I hope this sort of gives you an idea of where I come from. I don't mean to take on a heir of being a zealot. I am quite the opposite.
Say a prayer in your own way.. for those who do have faith..and have put their lives in peril to help others. Maybe it won't be a prayer to God.. but a little wish... from you.
