Any ideas what kind of rifle this is? Cal. 6.5

I believe it's a Mannlicher-Carcano M38 carbine, an Italian weapon. I think one of these (or at least one of the variants) was used to slot JFK. A number were also converted to 7.92mm during the war.

that's an italian Carcano M91TS.

TS stands for Truppe Speciali (=Special Troops)

yep, you're correct that's a M38 not a M91 ;-)

I didn't remember the M38 were rebarreled to the 6.5mm

Isn't that one of the most inaccurate weapons or something? I remember my history teacher in high school said it was called the most humane weapon of the war cause it never hit anybody... it might be a different weapon though..

Yes, I own this one. Unfortunately itīs a bit rusty and the barrel was closed by welding. :|

Canīt be that inaccurate if JFK was shot with one of these weapons. :)

Newsflash: Satan was just seen seeking Asylum in Anchorage, Alaska. Claimed that all of a sudden, hell froze over and he needed to move to a warm place. Dam that flying pig nearly hit me.
Weasel,is it the german castrated version, (bolt flexed off and five holes drilled through the barrel and whatnot) or is it modified for Salut (blanks only)?

It is a castrated gun. The barrel was closed by welding. No other castrations.

Uh-oh hope it's an Altdeko then. Weasel, from your usual posts you don't seem to be the guy who is around guns. Just want to make sure that you know how shrewd the german weapons law is, concerning the modification of real weapons to decoration items. If you know, disregard the rest of this post. If not PM me and I send you details and links. Don't want that you get in trouble if the friends in green pay you a visit.

Thanks for your worries. But this rifle is definately only a deko object now. The barrel was treated in a way that this rifle will never shoot again. (Maybe one of the actions after WW II?)
You canīt even insert a round into the barrel because of the welding.

Btw. I got this rifle from my neighbour who wanted to scrap this gun.

You get me wrong if you think that I donīt like guns. I like the technology and have nothing against sport shooting. I only donīt like the american style gun range weekends and guns used for killing. p-)
