Newborn placed with relatives after both parents arrested in McKenzie
The Jackson Sun
McKenzie police have charged two Carroll County parents with raping their child.
Jonathan Wayne Goodrum, 19, and Kristina Louise Sawyer, 18, are charged with raping their 1-day-old girl before she was taken home from McKenzie Regional Hospital about six weeks ago, said McKenzie Police Lt. Tim Nanney.
While both parents have been charged, Sawyer's bond was reduced because police still are investigating what role, if any, she played in the possible rape of her child, Nanney said. She was charged because "I could not exclude her from being part of it, so I had to charge her also," he said. "I could not exclude her at the time from being a participant of it."
Nanney said hospital officials notified police of the possible rape after noticing injuries to the child's rear during a routine examination given before newborns are released from the hospital.
"There were some skin tears in and around the private (back) area of the child," he said.
The investigation led to the child's parents, Nanney said, and there was no indication that any hospital worker was involved in the incident.
"Based on the investigation, we ruled out everyone but the mom and the dad," Nanney said.
The Tennessee Department of Children's Services has placed the baby girl with a relative, Nanney said. The parents are not allowed to have contact with the girl, who is now about 6 weeks old.
The couple was engaged to be married and was living at the Value Inn Motel on Highland Drive in McKenzie at the time of the incident. Sawyer is a McKenzie native, and Goodrum also has relatives living in Carroll County, though Nanney did not know his hometown.
Goodrum is being held in the Carroll County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond. Sawyer's bond was reduced to $5,000 after her arraignment. Nanney did not know if she still was being held or had been released.
While no trial date has been set, Nanney said one probably would not occur before September.

Because the normal way to rape a new born baby is to do it at home?
It's obvious they are totally f*cked up in the head beyond imagination.

Well it just struck me that if they were going to take it home, why not wait? Maybe it was a cry for help or something, ie they knew it would be noticed.
Or as you said they are totally ****ed

This doesn't really make sense. I think there needs to be a lot more investigation. Anyone that would hurt any child should be killed. Period. But for all we know they are retards that don't know how to wipe a kids ass properly and hurt the kid while changing a diaper. Seriously newborns are very small. Anatomically speaking this doesn't even sound plausible. The entire thing sickens me. Helluva Mothers Day post......

****ing hillbillies....
My mother was born and raised in Pike County, Kentucky in a "town" that was essentially a coal mining camp. She grew up during the Great Depression in one of the poorer areas of the country (it still is). My grandfather worked in the coal mines until, due to a combination of emphysema and other respiratory issues - he wasn't able to work at all anymore. He also died younger than he probably should have as a result.
We're related, through my grandmother's side of the family, to the McCoys of Hatfield/McCoy Feud (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatfield-McCoy_feud) fame.
My point?
If the "parents" involved in this had been black, would you have written "****ing n***ers"? I doubt it. It would likely have gotten you banned.
There are douchebags from all walks of life, from every ethnic group, race, religious creed. This kind of douchbaggery transcends social and economic strata and level of education.
To say "****ing hillbillies" as if this is some type of behaving unique to folks from appalachia is really pretty insulting to a whole heap of hard working, conscientious folks, and folks like me who are proud of their "hillbilly" heritage.
Also, Jackson is in west-central Tennessee - they're not appalachians. They might be "white trash", but that doesn't make them "hillbillies".
That said - the douchebags in this story (or anyone who'd do anything like that to a kid) need to be killed in hideously painful ways.

I agree with CJ. Before flying into a murderous rage, let's hear what a thorough investigation has to say. A one day old infant is tiny. It's just too sick to even imagine...

If the case this is really sick. But I was thinking the same thing, new born seems too small to do that to and have the child live, and when would they have done it, in the mother's room, would the hospital staff not heard the screams of extreme pain the child would have been in? I could be wrong but this does seem to be a little hard to believe, seems more likely the child was hurt by some other means. But either way if it was deliberate, who ever did it should hang high!
