How do you like your USP .45?

I'm thinking about getting one.

Did using that LaRue Tactical top rail make your EOTech clear your top handguard?

Our department's EOTechs are also mounted far forward also but we had to shave the handguard down. Might be a good option for us in the future if it prevents that.

What kind of handguards do you use? I've had an EOTech on a bi-level ARMS SIR mounted forward, and it was good to go. Good picture, same cheek weld as with iron sights, but I still had a lot of peripheral vision around the optic.

I love it! Only thing that I dont like on it is the grip size. But for some reason, adding the handall makes it feel better. I plan to get a Compact 45 soon.

Hmmm, I dont think I tried it without the Larue mount. I'll test it out when I get home later today. I had a ARMS SIR before. The handguards that are on now are the Colt m4 double heat shield ones. Heres a before pic of the upper.

†Seraphim†, that is sweet, SBR, complete coolness. The Colt handguards complete the package.:D

Check the EE over on ARFcom, I think you can still get the LEO/Military RRA lowers over there.

I have an ASP sling on my SPR and I love it. You cant beat the TAG ASP sling for a price like that and the simplicity. My SPR is a heavy MOFO, but it still works comfortably for me, and is even more confortable when I put it on my M4gery (alot lighter than my SPR).

Any heads up comparison to the Wilderness Single point's and what makes the ASP Preferable?

Most of our rifles have the factory handguards on but me and I think another have the Foubus model with the rails. All the rifles had this problem, all are M4 Commandos. Our EOTechs are mounted straight to the top factory rail of the rifle and hang forward over the handguard much like Serephim's. We had problems with the front of the EOTech being pushed up when making contact with the handguard. Simple fix at the time was to grind the rear section of the handguard down about 1/8" to 1/4" little for about 2" or so from the back in. The front of the EOTech then free floats. Great sight picture and all and the welds are the same. We had to mount them forward due to some other stuff mounted.

If I get a chance later I'll try to get a pic of it to show what I mean. Its a working rifle so can't pull the EOTech off tonight but I think the modification will show up. At work now so it'll be late tonight.

Here is the set up. The EOTech sits lower without an added top rail so the handguards interfere with it. We have to mount them farther forward due to another NV mount. Sorry but the bottom pic was the best one I could get without removing the EOTech. Kinda shows how the handguard was shaved down a bit to accommodate the EOTech. If you get a chance let me know if that LaRue rail raises it up enough to eliminate that interference problem. If so, might have to get one!

to me the only thing wrong with the ARs in the above setup/photos is the barrel length..but to each their own.(personally I prefer the 14.5-16.5 barrel length)

If you don't mind, what flash hider do you have on there.....Phantom?

Also, what made your department choose the Fobus handguards over one that would be allot more solid?

FYI:The first rail system I purchased was the Fobus, as soon as it turned up and after I read some posts on ARFcom about them I turned around and sold it on Ebay, didn't even mount it, also made a profit, got to love those airsoftersp-)

The flash hider is a Gemtech model that looks like the phantom. We bought the new G-5 supressor (http://www.gem-tech.com/G5.html) and its the quick mount for that system. You can't see it in the photo but there is a locking at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. The flash hider looks kinda funny, until the supressor goes on p-) . The G-5 is great by the way.

The handguards are only on my gun and one other. Our department didn't buy them and most others have stock. I origionally had a fixed carry handle AR (800m sights) as my duty weeapon and needed a quick way to mount an EOTech on the front handguard to cowitness with the front sight. Bought the Samco/Fobus guards without much research. My team switched over to the M4 Commando like the other guys and I moved them over to that rifle too. Going to switch them out soon just on cop salary so need to save up the money.

Both the stock and Fobus guards rubbed so it wasn't that.

We got them to save length on entry stuff. We really like them, other than they are noisy as hell. We tamed that down though lol.

If you're on a budget, you may want to try Midwest Industries free floating rails, they are priced just right and the workmanship is quality too.

Thanks for the response:)

No problem thanks for the tip, I'll check them out! Kinda got a few things going that I'm working on. I inherited a Bushmaster upper from my brother and am getting ready to finish it out. That and climbing season is coming up and the new gear is calling. Its a three way budget split.

By the way, I forgot the "lug" in locking lug but I think you got it :)

Took a look. The EOTech will definitly not fit without the Larue riser if you want it mounted forward.
