U.S. Special Forces officers guard antiquities, including a red 8,000-year old Iraqi clay pot from before the wheel was invented, during a press conference at the Iraqi national museum in Baghdad, May 16, 2003. The standing statue is one of earliest known Sumarian freestanding statues, dated around 2,700 BC. (AP Photo/Alexander Zemlianichenko)

Iraqi children and youths crowd around a U.S. Special Forces soldier, during a 'presence patrol,' in Tall Ash Shawr, a village in northwestern Iraq (news - web sites), Monday, May 19, 2003. Don't know. From this resolution, it looks like he didn't have a patch, so he made one with magic marker.

Looks kindof like the newer MICH Kevlar helmet, although hard to distinguish from the angle.

I too could swear that it looks like the stars and stripes, only that the stripes are diagonal. The "flag" is also surrounded by a yellow stripe, as in theflag patch. Thought first that it was the 3.Inf. Div, but they have blue and white. Don't they? And their'e camo patch is sort of yellow/greyish?!? But then again, I'm only an ignorant foreigner....

Correction that is NOT the 3rd ID patch. The 3rd ID patch is thishttp://www.scguard.com/images/3id.jpg

That really does look like Stars and Bars on that guys arm.I agree though that its backwards and diagonal.Wierd.

actually the point of woodland is to post insulting remarks for the sake of it, and usually he's flat out wrong. the captions specifically say special forces, which contradicts what he said. I had to clean up over 40 posts in the photos sections of him saying tons of profanity and other users. some people feel that they need attention from those nearest them.
